Diabetes & Byetta

Hi,
I’ve been on Byetta for about a month now, and it’s been great for my
numbers. But what to do when it’s time for your dose and you don’t feel up
to eating?

Seems like I have fallen apart in the last couple months! LOL, first it was
pneumonia. Then when I got over that I began having a bunch of other
symptoms - nausea, lots of belching, pain in my upper right abdomen just
under the rib cage, when severe radiating around my side and ribcage and up
my back to just below the right shoulder blade. The pain comes and goes,
though lately seems to be coming more than going. The doctor feels the
symptoms sound like gallbladder, but so far I’ve had blood tests, CT scan,
ultrasound, gastroscopy, colonoscopy - and nothing showing anything
conclusive. This week I have to have a test called a HIDA-scan.

i was wondering how many people see an endocrinologist specialist vs.
someone else.

Hi,

I am taking 10 units of Byetta, twice daily and 1000 mg Metformin twice daily.
I find that I keep needing to use 2mg Prandin from time to time - when I don’t
exercise enough or have a high-carb food.

How anyone ever used this combination - the PRANDIN as a rescue med.

How can you tell when your nearing the end of the
pen? Is there a message that appears? I’m on
day 5 and am feeling great. My sugars are much better.
My appetite has slowed down. I do notice that Im more
tired and sleep very very well. But I’m not sure if it’s
the Byetta or just plain tired.

Key To A Long Life — Less Insulin In The Brain?

source: ADA - Good, old-fashioned diet and exercise might keep you young by
reducing the action of insulin in the brain, researchers reported on
Thursday.

The investigators created mutant mice that over-ate, got fat and even had
symptoms of diabetes, and yet lived 18 percent longer than normal lab mice.
The secret: they lacked a certain key gene that affects insulin, the hormone
that regulates glucose.

The genetic engineering mimicked the effects of eating less and exercising,
the researchers report in the journal Science.

Hi All~

I have been on Byetta for almost a year and my Endo has me test in
the mornings and then again 1 hour after a meal….
Off and on I have tested more just to see where my numbers are
going.

So I guess my question is what is "normal"? I know we are all
different, but what are realistic numbers for one and two hours after
you eat? What should be considered to high? My one hour numbers are
usually in the 80’s or 90’s, but sometimes higher, and when it’s
higher I feel like that’s really bad because it’s not below 100. So
what is a good average and what’s to high?

I have been on Byetta almost seven months. Went to the doctor this morning
to review my lab results. My A1C is down to 5.9%!

I am wondering if anyone has one of the original Byetta cases that had the cold
packs with them, that they would like to sell or trade?? I got my Byetta case
and it is just a hard case with no way to keep it cool. I wouldn’t worry so
much but we will be travelling to Florida soon and I would like the cool case.
