Good-Bye Byetta

Dear Fellow Byetta Users,

Thank you for the information and sharing this last few weeks I have
been a member. I learned a great deal that my doctor would have never
told me, and still probably would rather I did not know–LOL. But
after 6 months of the Metformin disaster and now these 2 months of
constant severe side-effects that are not lessening and results that
are no better than just watching my diet alone (A1c=7.4 and fasting
AM is 165-ish with or without any meds), I have decided to let God
handle this problem for me. I have never been so sick in my life as I
have been SINCE my doctor started treating me. I did not even know I
was sick before that. I do not believe I have diabetes, I believe I
have pancreatitis from Lupus and I think the meds are making it worse
not better.

Everytime I take a shot I am so sick I can’t leave the house, I
bruise horribly, It stings and burns at the shot site like if I was
bit by a snake or stung by a hive of bees, I feel as if I have been
poisoned. My muscles scream in pain and my gut cramps and doubles me
over. Then the nausea, of course people lose weight on Byetta! They
can’t eat! I can’t eat one meal, let alone two a day needed to take
the shots with. I was eating babyfood spread on rice cakes and still
could not keep it down. Nothing helps. I tried everything. Ginger,
Sea-bands, dramamine, compazine, reglan, pepto-bismol, eating right
after the shot/waiting a while, eating this/eating that. Nothing
helps me.

My body is telling me I do not need to take this stuff. 10 years ago
when I had other health problems I was treated Homeopathically (NOT
Naturapathically with herbs and vitamins! they are two entirely
different methods) and I went into a remission that lasted years
until I succumbed to more stupid life-style choices yet again and
wrecked myself. I am going back to it. If it works, it is God’s Gift.
If it doesn’t, it is God’s Will.

Good Luck and God Bless you all!

Believeing you don’t have diabetes does not make you not have it. If
your A1c is 7.4, then you have diabetes. Obviously, you and your
doctor have not found the right medications for you, but there are
many available ones and you should continue to work at finding the
right one. You said you did not even know you were sick before your
doctor started treating you. That is the reason diabetes is often

called the silent killer. People often do not know they have it
before damage starts occurring. I worked for the VA Medical Center
(Veteran’s Hospital) and so many of our patients lost their feet and
eyesight to this often silent disease. One of my best friends is
blind because she did not know she had diabetes before it was too late
to treat adequately. Those patients without sight and feet would
