Byetta @ lunch and dinner question…
Hi,
I’m not really new here, but have been lurking and reading for some
time. This is a great group!
My story is that I was dx in Nov. 06. Started on Metformin. Byetta (5)
added in April. Moved to 10 in May. Had a terrible time with nausea
and just feeling terrible for the entire month. Numbers were good and
weight was down. Could not stand the "non-functioning life". Decided
to go back to Byetta 5, and now numbers are creeping up. But, I feel
good!
My question is this…
If I go back to the 10 and inject at lunch and dinner, is there a
better chance I will feel better with this timing???
Anyone do this on a regualr basis and NOT have ANY problems, but did
have with the breakfast injection?
One of my thoughts is that the Byetta is not combining well with some
of my morning meds…and there are several. So if I could get those
down early, give my body time to process those and then do Byetta???
I do understand about the 6 hour time gap with Byetta injections. I
am home most of the time, so mid-day would not be a problem much with
transporting it.
I never thought to try this with my 10 pen before.
Any thoughts?
TIA,
Gail

As long as you go 6 hours between injections, that might be worth trying.
It very well could be due to some of your morning pills since Byetta slows
down digestion. Some people have to alter the times they take oral meds to
accommodate this. Talk to your Dr. and get his/her advice before trying it,
though.

I just read from someone that they only wait 1/2 an hour after injection. It
plainly says 1 hour.
Did I miss something???

***Yes, I believe it says to eat within 60 minutes after injection. I’ve
been eating 10 to 15 minutes after injection and keep reading that the sooner
you do the less likely to avoid nausea but the lighter the appetite
suppressing effect….Do I have that wrong? So far I am not at all hungry,
even
after six hours so I go for the nausea prevention.

Phyllis, the one hour is not how long you must WAIT after injection but that
you must EAT within one hour of injection.

Yes, it’s up to one hour after injection.
