Byetta with Metformin
The Byetta has been good for me but my numbers are still a little to
high. My DR. said I could try adding 500mg Metformine twice a day.
Do most of you who take Metformin take it before, after or with meals?
I am hopeing this will bring my morning fasting numbers down from the
180-190s. and get my a1c down from 6.7 ….

Definitely take it with meals. It does cause some gastric upset <whispers>
diarrhea..But if they would give you the extended release it doesn’t seem to
cause it as bad. I take 750 mg of the extended release twice a day. Once
with lunch, then with a snack before bedtime.

Hi there. I take 10mcg injections of Byetta, along with 500mg of metformin
at breakfast and at dinner. I also take 2.5mg glyburide at breakfast and at
bedtime. There’s been some discussion on here about the best time to take
oral meds since Byetta slows digestion. I spoke with my Dr. and he prefers
the schedule I’m currently on more than taking the 1 hour before meals or 2
hours after meals as some others have done.
