Regarding your question of ‘if the fruits you bought were ok’
I purchased a book found at most any bookstore, even a Walmart is likely to
carry it, and of course Amazon if you’re someone that prefers purchasing
online. The cost was very low in my opinion for what it’s done to help me, U
S $7.99.

Here’s the title:
2007 color edition
"The Calorie King Calorie FAT & Carbohydrate Counter" by Allen Borushek

Here’s what else is on the cover of this handy size book (4 x 6)

Diet Guides & Counters
a.. Cholesterol
b.. Protein
c.. Alcohol
d.. Fiber
e.. Iron
f.. Sodium
g.. Plus 200 Fast-Food Chains & Restaurants
h.. Fats
There’s so much I haven’t had time to tap into as it’s a jam packed book
that I find very handy. Last diabetes class I took she referred to it alot .
…you can find out that an apple is considered a portion if it’s a 4 oz.
one, how much each fruit, veggie, etc. is in carbs, fats & calories &
portion size they’re referring to. I go by carbs but if you’re someone that
goes by calories it’s most helpful as well.

I’ve found it most helpful, it’s something I’ve carried in my purse many
times to stores and can pour over it for hours to learn more in whatever
category I want, the sodium in foods, fiber content and so much more.

I just love the book because it’s so easy to grab and look through as you’re
shopping in the produce section to see what a kiwi, berries etc. carb count
is and then determine which ones you prefer buying by knowing ahead of time
what you’d like to fit into your meal plan & how it will work.

There really isn’t anything I won’t eat (many things I just no longer even
crave/chose to eat (many simple carbs for instance), as long as I know what
count things are ahead of time, I then can plan my meals much better and
more accurately if I decide to add it in.

He’s also got a website for updates when other foods, and info is added:
www.CalorieKing.com

The only reason I bring it up is I found it to be easy to read at a glance
what I looking up and I was pretty clueless on so much of what I should be
doing regarding making healthier choices on carbs (fruit wise etc) so this
really got me in the right direction.

Hope this might be something that helps others as well. :) Elizabeth

Eventually all the pieces fall into place.
Until then, laugh at the confusion, live for the moment,
and realize that everything happens for a reason.

I was just wondering if anyone here has a webpage or can reccomend one that
deals with the best foods to eat and the ones to avoid. I have a general
idea, but not exactly sure if it’s anything close to the Atkin’s Diet. My Dr
hasn’t really told me much about what I am dealing with here.

I really like fruit and miss it a lot on that particular diet. So was
wondering if the fruits I bought today were ok. I got Kiwi (one of my fav’s)
apricots, plums and white peaches. I want to watch what I eat, but can’t do
the whole diabetic diet at this point, I don’t think.

Would appreciate any help that you all can offer.
Thanks so much,
Kathleen
