Ok, well in February budget cuts cut my husband’s salary by more than
40%–they put him on hourly wage. We were just making the bills on
the old salary. He took this job after changing careers at 39 years
old because of an accident at work–that is still in the courts 4
years later, at a 50% reduction in income. So basically now he is
making just over 1/4 what he was making 5 years ago. None of our
bills have gotten any less, in fact the local electric power supplier
has been sued for illegally raising rates more than double. When he
lost the salary in February it meant no cell phone, no mileage and no

Gasoline has of course gone up. We had to buy a car for this job and
with the mileage they were paying him it covered everything except
the insurance, now that is gone and we still have the car payments. I
had no way of getting in touch with him during the day in case of an

Bad Medical Advice

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

I’m having knee surgery tomorrow and met with the orthopaedic
surgeon yesterday afternoon to go over all of the pre-op paperwork
and testing. He asked about my medical conditions and what
medications I’m on and told me that I can’t eat or drink anything
after 6pm tonight.

When undergoing other procedures, they usually schedule me early
because of my diabetes so that I don’t have to fast for too long
and have always told me to go ahead and take my metformin and
glyburide with just a sip of water when I wake up.

This guy must not have know much about diabetes meds as he said to
not take any pills but to go ahead and do my morning Byetta
injection. Hello, but Byetta requires that you eat something
within an hour of injection in order for it to work properly! I

quick protein suggestions wanted & Net Carb question..

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Soynuts would be another super easy protein to toss in a bag, grab and go….

I recently purchased a pkg. of soynuts that are nicely flavored but have been
roasted without oil, what a great quick take along protein for a snack or when I
make a wrap I sometimes like that crunch to add with it…. I have this thing
about crunchy things with a sandwich or wrap. lol Baby carrots, soynuts that
sort of thing, I imagine is has to do with the chip thing I ate in the past.
lol

Actually I guess tossing some IN the wrap might be tasty, also adding them to a
salad would be a nice bit of protein.

But to respond to your original, grab and go quick protein Soynuts not cooked in
oil are 11 carbs for 1/4 c. and 5 g. of fat, the fiber is 6 grams, protein is 10
grams. I’m not familiar with the Net carb thing, can someone explain how that

Congratulations on all of the weighloss you all are sharing about & the
lowered Glucose #’s! :) Someone once shared when you lose 5 lbs, 10lbs. or
whatever the number be, pickup up something in your house that weighs that
amount and start carrying it around with you and you truly will realize how
huge a deal each lb. we lose is! :) I know when I would lose a lb. or 5lb. I
used to shrug it off and think…OMG…but I have sooooo far to go, funny
thing this time when starting Byetta, things clicked for me and I have no
time to waste thinking about lbs. left on or taken off. I do share
occasionally my weight loss since Byetta, I think pretty much because I need

Byetta, I think pretty much because I need to make it a reality in my brain, to
me it’s merely a number and it’s never felt like this before in the past, I seem
to be more concerned with trying to get in the carbs, the exercise, the meds
etc. etc. and the weight seems to be taking itself off as I keep up with the

Hello,

I’m looking for some new suggestions for quick proteins, meaning those I
can grab quick and take with me or fix easy for breakfast. I’m a lazy
diabetic in that I don’t like to have to do a lot of fuss or
preparation for my foods. I’m always doing 20 million things at one time
between my business, home, work and my son, so I am looking for ready to
go or quick prep. Here are some of the ones I do now but I am looking
for new options:

Oh really??? Did it do any damage to your organs or anything? I guess I
should quit fooling around with what I eat, before I damage my liver or
something worse.
