<description>One thing I noticed with me is that when I get the nausea, 9 out of 10 time,
my blood sugar is dropping. Sometimes it gets down in the 50's or 60's, but
I've learned to catch it now in the low 70's, and eat something to keep it
from dropping lower. This usually happens after supper, and usually if I
haven't eaten some carbs with supper. I'm still doing trial and error with
Byetta, and have dropped from the 10 pen 2x daily to the 5 pen x2. I may
have to go back to the 10 since my blood sugars have started to run higher
than I like, but the 10 builds up to the point of being too strong. I've
been on Byetta since November of 2005, and can't praise it enough. But it
does take some tinkering... and just about the time you think you've got it
figured out, bingo... something changes. Anyway, just wanted to remind
everyone to test, test, test.... especially when you feel nauseated.

HI JENNY,
Saw your post abt the side effects of Byetta you are still experiencing.
I am the same way, sort of. I also get motion sick easily. I think some
people are just more susceptible to the nausea, etc.
BUT, I have found, having been on Byetta 5 a long time, now on the 10
finally, that with the 10, I canNOT take the Byetta in the am most of the
time... because I do not eat much in the am at all. I am just not hungry
enuf and dont want to eat.
If I eat a large enuf br'fast, then I will shoot it before that meal.
Otherwise, I wait and shoot before lunch and before dinner, even that HAS to
be a large enuf meal that I wont get sick sick sick!
If you shoot Byetta and then do not eat much, it makes you (me anyway)
sicker than if you have enuf food in your stomach.
You can ask your doc abt that problem, but that's the only thing I can do,
so that I can still shoot it when I should, but NOT be sick all day.... I
cannot STAND nausea, esp. all day, cuz I also get the bad nausea headache
with it, and I get migraines easily , so it's been a challenge. But I think
I have it pretty much worked out.
Plus, the Metformin (now onto Avandamet) made me have bad diahreah when I
first started that, but that has subsided for the most part too.
If you take the Byetta properly and IF you have enuf in your stomach at
the time (my belief anyway), the nausea should subside SOME in time - in a
week or two or so.... BUT, even my endocrin. last week told me when I said i
still feel some nausea from it, he said 'YEAH, THAT'S WHAT KEEPS YOU FROM
wanting to eat!&#34; So I guess it's SUPPOSED to have that affect on us!
But I'm with you .. .if it has to be so nauseaous that you can't function
in Life, it's not worth it. But ask the doc abt NOT shooting before br'fast,
if your br'fasts are not very big.
Good luck!
Tina
