No, Paul, you are correct. Until you set your pen for the first time, the
unopened cartridge should remain refrigerated.

That is what I understand as well. Once the pen is taken out of
refrigeration the 30 day clock starts and the pen is only good for
the 30 day period that follows. Otherwise, the pen under
refrigeration is good until the expiration date on the box, provided
the pen has never been used.

I think you need to contact them again because that is contrary to what they
say on their website - that the pens must be refrigerated until use.

Hmm... so you figure they should have the 144 hours that they can
last before making it to the fridge still?

She told me the opposite, that they didn't have to be refridgerated.
None of them. Used or not, just that they can't be frozen or go above
77 degrees.

You are correct on that. Until you actually set up your pen and take your
first shot, it has to be refrigerated.

Demetria-Beth

_____

There is a caviat. My understanding from reading their documentation was
that the pen had to be kept cool until you started. Once started, then the
77 degrees applies.

But, I could be wrong.

I called Byetta today and got confirmation that they always could be
left out up to a temperature of 77 degrees. If it exceeds that
temperature, they recommend calling them to see if you can still use
that pen or not, or possibly able to replace it.

Good news for me. I was in a blackout in Seattle for about a week,
and my pens I thought were trash. I quit taking it because I had no
medical insurance right now either, so I feel better, that I can take
them.

Yay!
