Glucose Tabs, Etc.
I have an elderly friend who is diabetic and has gone into a coma twice so
is lucky to be alive. When I stayed at their house for a week when her BG
would start dropping her husband would bring her coke and have her sip on
that and that worked quicker than glucose tabs or candy. She always had
glucose tabs when she left the house but at home found that either regular
Coke or orange juice was the quickest acting.

My DE also recommended Coke over Glucose tabs. I carry a coke can in
the car. I’ve had to use it a couple times and it works FAST!!!
Coke…who knew???? giggle

Did you know that those crackers and peanut butter are just the right
"dosage" when your sugar drops? That is what one of the nurses in the
diabetic clinic here told me. I keep those around just in
case…………

That is a an old wives tale. Peanut butter and crackers will not raise your
blood sugar fast enough to help a low. For that you need sugar. Then after
you have treated your low with sugar, you wait 15 mins then test again.
When your blood sugar is again in the normal range you eat the peanut butter
and crackers to help keep it up.
