BG range

I hate to be in disagreement again but if you check with your dietician,
endocrinologist or regular doctor they will tell you there is not problem if
it is over 100 but below 120. Let us not get hysterical. I have gotten
really dizzy at 75 and at 67 my doctor even told me that was TOO LOW. But
then that’s my body but I doubt anyone is going to get neuropathy at 110.
That is why it’s the A1C that matters to the doctor most times. Of course
if suddenly Iwent to 200 I would then worry about damage in the future.
Remember it is a slow progressive disease. One day is not going to make me
obsessive about weight.

My dietician told me I could only have 4 oz of fish or meat, and I try to
keep to that. I do have half a cup of Dreamfields pasta, I have egg
beaters, sometimes I eat the real thing with tomatoes. I have broiled
bluefish with yes, a mashed potato and I also have chicken a few times a
week. I have English Muffins, 7 grain bread and some hummus with garden

i need some advice. i have been on the byetta for a week and so far everything
is going ok. i am very apprehensive of going out or to a party taking the
byetta. if i take my shot at 12 noon and eat by 1 o’clock, i cannot take another
shot until 6pm and need to eat by 7pm. is that correct? now saturday we are
going out for lunch. i plan to take the byetta with me. i’ll take the shot at
the restaurant when we order and will eat with in an hour. we plan on meeting at
12:30 pm. than in the late afternoon we are invited to a picnic. food served
about 4 or 5 pm. but i won’t be able to take shot intil 5:30 or later. should i
not take the evening shot and take my chances?……. i do not get up early in
the morning, so 10 am i take my pills and 12 noon the shot………i hope i am
explaining myself correctly. i am not sure how to work this and am considering
not going out. how do you people who travel a lot or eat at different times,
handle this?……………..thanks for your

price of needles, etc.

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

Thanks for all the info. I think my price for the pens was way more because he
wrote the RX for one 5 and two 10 pens so they charged for the different sizes!
And I’ll remember next time about those needles! That was ridiculous!

price of needles

Monday, January 15th, 2007

Someone mentioned a couple of days ago that their needles cost like $6/100.
Just wondering where you get them for that amount. My co-pay for 3 pkg. of 100
ea. is $35!!

Thanks,

bent needle

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

Ok, I’ve been doing this since November. My belly provides a good
target and I don’t generally have problems —- but, every once in a
while the shot HURTS for no apparent reason and when it does, I
sometimes get a bruise. Tonight when I started to inject and felt
pain, I discovered that the needle was bent, not much, but obviously
enough to hurt. Since the needles are only $6/hundred, I never reuse
needles. I guess it’s possible that I somehow bent it when I removed
the cap after attaching the needle. Don’t know, but I’ve found my
reason for occasional pain and bruising. I KNEW it was my fault, just
didn’t know exactly how.

Still not smoking, weight creeping back up.

dosing

The FDA approval is for either 5 or 10, anything else is off patent, not
responsibility of the drug company. You won’t find a ligit website telling
you to take 15 or more. If you do that is your test not the opinions of the
drug companies that do the testing etc.

30 Carbs

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

I eat 4oz of fish, with a dark colored vegetable but sometimes It is
cauliflower. I also have salads with lots of greens. I only drink un
sweetened ice tea or diet soda. No fruit juice in fridge. I am allowed two
fruits a day, but I I want mangos then one mango would be the two fruits. I
mention cauliflower because someone mentioned that white foods should be
avoiced but forgot that cauliflower is white but it is a good carb. Byetta
also makes me full. When I get hungry late night, I have soy ice cream,
green tea. My favorite. I also have fruit yogurt, low fat, she taught me
how to read food labels. I have not been buying the 1%milk because I really
don’t’ drink much coffee and figure I can get the calcium someplace else.
There is low fat cheese and once in awhile I do indulge myself In a greek
salad. Instead of red meat I have chicken, turkey, veggigeburgers or fish.
Once in awhile I have red meat. My tryglicerides etc went down. Oh and I
use eggbeaters but now I hear I can eat eggs a few times a week but NOT
every day.

Dosage

My endocrinologist told me there are even patients that cannot tolerate it
at all.

I have become fascinated with lizards since learning its source but I have
the feeling it is not party talk.

More than 10 Units of Byetta

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

I was first prescribed 5 units of Byetta and then went to 10 Units. Is that the
highest one can take.

dieting

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

I think everyone’s body is different. My nutritionist(certified etc) put me
on 30 carbs every two hours. I am losing the weight. So I think now that
everyone is just different. She did give me a list of the "good carbs".
Naturally they are the veggies like spinach, tomato, leeks, broccoli etc.
But calorie counting I _personally_ cannot do. So I choose based on number
of carbs and if they exceed 30 then I cannot have it. Again as it is said
many times on this list we are different and our diabetes is different.
