5 vs. 10………….
why is it you have to switch to a 10 pen after a month? does the byetta lose
it’s strength after a while. if things are going well, can’t you just stay on
5?………….baz

You don’t HAVE to increase the dose. This is what Byetta.com says:
BYETTA dosing
BYETTA is an injectable medicine that comes in a prefilled pen with simple,
fixed dosing for all patients. This means you don’t have to guess what dose
you need based on the size of your meal or how much you exercise. Your
healthcare professional will start you off with a dose of 5 micrograms (mcg)
twice a day for at least 30 days, but may decide to increase your dose to 10
mcg in the future.

Talk to your doctor. It depends on the individual and some of the
other medications one takes with Byetta. My doctor indicated that
with some people taking oral medications and Byetta, they are often
token off the oral medications or having the oral medications
reduced. Supposedly there are more known long term side effects with
some of the oral meds than there is with Byetta. I am for that….
