hiking and blood sugar

I am going on a 5 mile hike with a group of Scouts. Until recently my blood
sugar has been high. I changed when I take my glyburide and now it is better
during the day. The last few days I have been walking to prepare for the hike.
After about a mile or so my blood sugar is down to 75. I will still have 3 plus

Is there any way that you could have a fanny pack with some fig newtons or
some other carb snack? Alternatively you could carry the glucose tabs that
contain 15 grams of carb per tablet. I would DEFINATELY let someone who
will be walking with you the signs of low blood sugar and how to help you if
    the need should arise.

to eat to stabilize it but not get high blood sugar?
