If you call their phone line during normal business hours, the phone number
should be on the starter kit or web site then they can help you through the
steps to take the first injection. A nurse in fact will get on the line and
walk you thru it. That is what I did. Now it is like nothing. I just have
to remember not to inject before the pills.

I’ve not introduced myself yet but have been keeping up with the posts and
thought I’d share my experience with Byetta, my experience has been a very
positive one so I thought of you and others Baz that were nervous about
beginning and concerned about it’s possible side effects etc., so here’s my
story & experience with Byetta. :o)
I’m Elizabeth live in the Midwest and began using Byetta on March 15, 2007
barely a month and a half ago. I use the 5mcg pen so 1 breakfast shot and 1
before supper shot. I’ve had incredibly positive results with Byetta, my bg is
down from the upper 200-300’s to a normal range now of 98-115 on average.
The day I began with the first shot was the day my life changed in a major way
because I made the decision to not only start Byetta that day but how I lived my

I just switched to the new Bayer Ascencia Contour. It gives me results in 5
seconds. After taking lizzie It really does lower the bg. I was able to
have a small fruit smoothie at an upscale diner today. I watched them make
it not realizing the guy was going to offer it to me. I got it for free and
even though there is sugar in it from the bananas, strawberries and whatever
else makes it that way, I was still within normal when I got home two hours
later. That never happened before Lizzie entered my lfe. I think the nausea
is a small price to pay.

In December,2006 my AiC was a whopping 11.7 , my bg level the morning
of my test was 270. My doctor started me on Byetta 5mg 12/14/06 and
switched me to 10mg 12/28/06. I have had no nausea at all. My biggest
problem is "monster" burps.
This month my AiC was 6.1 and fasting bg was 101!!! My bad cholestrol
was down 17 points and good cholestrol up 8 points. I’ve lost 34 lbs
since 12/14 and my blood pressure was the lowest it’s ever been. God

My reluctance to inject myself in the stomach seems trivial now that
I have seen what byetta can do.
I know everyone is different but I am just so excited about my
results I wanted to share and maybe give someone the incentive to keep
giving byetta a chance.I’ve never posted before but read every day and
have been reassured many times by others sharing their experiences.

I just googled gila monster and diabetes to get these and more. However
that first url and the NYT are probably the most respected sites. You can
always just go to the NY Times site and type it in but maybe the link will

Hey everyone,
I have a silly question. I joined this group ages ago, as my husband
is a Type 2 diabetic. Well, he is on Byetta and has been for some
time now. He is SO lax these days with it I could strangle him, but
that is for another post! I have a question.
Where did you find information about Byetta being a Gila Monster spit
derivative? I am currently taking a Pharmacology course for my
nursing classes, and we have been discussing diabetic medications.
Byetta, or anything like it was not mentioned. So, I planned on
taking in my Byetta knowledge and WOWING the teacher.
However, I am at a loss as to where on the net I can find information
on how Byetta came to be. Can anyone help me? I’d so appreciate it.

I am wondering why I sometimes bleed from injection site or I find
bruising. Has anybody had this happen to them?
I was surfing the Byetta website and saw a list of cities they are touring
with their product they will be in my city this Sunday, the 29th. I wonder
if they will have free frio bags? Or a pen? The one with ink. I won’t
hold my breath they will give out free samples of their drug. It is not
legal anyway.
I signed up on their website in Feb and never got the bag but then I went
online again today and signed up again.
