Inconsistancy

Sunday, December 24th, 2006

Has anyone noticed any inconsistancy in their Byetta? I have to order mine and
so I get 3 months supply at a time. When I started the last 3 months I thought
it must have stopped working for me. Not much full feeling, no upset tummy and
started wanting to eat everything in sight again. My numbers stayed pretty good
though so I just figured it must have stopped working for me as far as helping
with the food.

Now I’ve started the new 3 months supply and what a difference. Am full
immediately, started belching all the time again and have more energy back. Am
wondering if my last order could have gotten too cold during shipping or if it
just wasn’t a "good" batch.

Rubber band’ obesity surgery cuts diabetes risk

By Anne Harding Wed May 2, 12:29 PM ET

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - After having "lap band" surgery for weight
loss, men and women show large increases in sensitivity to the
blood-sugar-regulating hormone insulin — even if they remain obese — a
new study shows.

"They don’t have to reach their ideal weight in order to make some
pretty significant health improvements," Dr. Joan F. Carroll of the
University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, one of
the study’s authors, told Reuters Health.

Carroll reported the findings this week at the American Physiological

Weight loss with byetta

Sunday, December 24th, 2006

No. I have not lost much since I have been on Byetta. I am recommitting to
eating according to South Beach. My weight has not gone down much. I think
that my body finally realized that it was not pregnant because everything has
kind of rearranged. I just recently got some new clothes that fit better.

I am trying to work on getting a workout done everyday. That is not always easy
to get done. I am keeping track of my steps with my pedometer.

traveling in a car with byetta

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006

Wow, baz, I did not know cars can get that hot in this weather. Right now
there Is a thunder storm . I had turned off the heat because the last few
weeks have been so lovely. But I am in long legged pajamas and tops.

I usually travel by bus which is air conditioned now. I probably wont’ be
traveling much that I will need to pack it in something cold.

traveling with Byetta

Friday, December 22nd, 2006

I was told that the manufacturer/marketers can say as long as it does not
sit in the hot car on the hot beach, it does not need all that traveling
cold stuff, unless of course you are going to the American southwest or some
hot place like that. Right now I am in usa’s midatlantic state of NY and it
is no where near hot enough for me to worry about the temp. I am not going
to spend unnecessary money

dreamfields pasta

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

"i am going to have to get some of that dreamfields as pasta is my
favorite."

Be sure to do post meal glucose checks. Some have reported it delays the
usual peak and thus can be misleading if one sees at the usual time a
lowish number. Byetta tends to have the delay effect alone so it might be
even longer.

Fat is often an added item in sauces etc. which also tends to delay glucose
peaks. Over cooking is said to cause higher numbers. Your meter is your
friend and it will tell you how much you can eat if at all. Some report
good results and others no difference with regular pasta. The first item
is corn starch and would appear to be a resistant starch approach. It
tends to not be as easily digested or spreads it over time, testing will
tell you in the amounts and menus for which you use it.

Ratty and Baz was to baz

Patty,
Thanks for sharing.

I am also learning to cook for a large family. I had 4 boys and a girl. Until
Christmas of 2005. I got my best Christmas surprise and now I have 5 boys. I
have learned to do cheap and filling and still make it OK for me.

My usual dinner is lean meat, salad, a non starch vegetable and a starch. (I
only eat the starch when my BG # is good.) Sometimes we have noodle casseroles.
I just eat a large salad and then a small portion of the noodle dish.

It sounds like you had a great Grandma.

I miss when food seemed to be just food. But I’m trying to think about all the
blessings I have because of it. I am learning to take care of myself better.

penny, what did it say about dining out in fast food places?.baz

If you go to a nearby restaurant you can inject yourself discreetly in
restroom or inject before you leave home. They also gave a book on dining
out at fast food places and their carb counts and a few other goodies. It
is a traveling thing so look at their website to see when it comes to city
near you.

The ADA also sells books on carb counting etc. Or you can just search on
the amazon.com website for diabetes books. I personally like the one for
dummies.:-)

travel

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

I was at a street fair in my city today and the Byetta people had a booth.
They said they will not be giving away the travel kit any longer as they are
getting or have gotten FDA permission to state that it(Byetta) no longer
needs refridgeration once it is opened. So I can travel with it when I go
out. However I might still call their 800 # to find out what happens in the
summer. I live in a city that gets very muggy in the summer and I suspect
with the temps rising every summer that this year is going to be
uncomfortable. So I want to know if I would then have to put it back in the
fridge.

At the fair, they did have a cooking demonstration of chicken(they used
extra virgin olive oil in the pan for the top of the stove before putting it
in the oven) the giveaways were the dining out at fast food places, some
recipes and carb counting. I hate being reminded about portion control.
That is why I like lizzie so much.

Byetta-And eating out

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

here is what I do when I eat out I Take my shot either in the car or in
the bathroom ,I leave the needle in my Byetta box I never through it in
the waste basket i take it back home and dispose of it . I go to the
saled bar but take just a spoon full if the items I want not to much
though cause if I over eat I’m the one that suffers for it . I get a
senior or childs portion or I end up taking half home with me cause I
cannot eat it all. The shot will tell you when to stop eating it is so
easy to say no to desert cause you fill up fast . and the compliments
are worth it .I have lost 37 lbs and still going although it is
bouncing up and down at the moment .Good luck and stay with it it is
great you’ll see
