Carbs…Pills…
Regarding taking pills, this is what my day usually looks like,
although it does change a little now and then:
8am - Byetta shot and breakfast
11am - snack & pills
1pm - lunch
3pm - snack
6:30pm - Byetta and dinner
9pm - snack & evening pills
12am - milk & bed
So far I have never had nausea (fingers and toes crossed!). I am
very fearful of upchucking the pills because I take a LOT of them
for issues other than Diabetes. So far, so good.

As far as carbs, my DE taught us to count carbs as POINTS. I get 3-4
carb points per meal. Each point consists of 1 carb serving (15
carbs).
The trick is to learn what counts as a carb POINT. AND you have to
learn serving sizes (1/2 cup potatoes, 1/3 cup rice, 1/2 banana, 17
Tortilla chips or pretzels, etc.) Then you just count carb points
each meal. It really is easy once you get the hang of it.
And find out what the "free" food list is. That’s the foods that are
low calorie, high fiber and no carb points. And stock your
refrigerator with them! I am BIG on snacking. Small meals and snacks
all day long help me keep my sugar levels in control and fight
hunger and fatigue.

Last comment…EVERYONE is going to have a DIFFERENT list of foods
that work for them. Talk to your DE or read a book and figure out
what works for you. I can eat rice no problem. I have a Diabetic
friend who can’t eat rice without her blood sugar spiking. Also,
each doctor has a different idea. My doctor is fine with me snacking
all day…he encourages that. I have another friend that was told by
her doctor to eat three meals a day and nothing after 8pm. I would
DIE if I couldn’t have my milk at bedtime. And my sugar level is
fine at bedtime and upon waking, so it works for me.
Each of our bodies is different. What works for me…or for
you…won’t work for someone else. A lot of trial and error…and
trust in your medical team and YOURSELF is what will help you learn
to deal with your individual health needs.
