leaking needle

Sunday, November 5th, 2006

i was wondering if anyone had any tips about the injections. I’ve been
using byetta since Wed. and on few occasion there is still a drop of
med on the needle. Well last night it was on the needle and my
stomach. i figure i didn’t get the dose in right? I do hold the count
till 5 (slowly) then release. Well this morning i used my thigh, no
drips but that hurt. Do you think it’s because there is more fat on the
stomach? Thanks and have a great day!

Progress so far

Saturday, November 4th, 2006

I have to say that so far I am quite happy with Byetta so far. I took
my first shot Tuesday night (after my debacle with not priming the pen
correctly). As of this morning I have dropped 6 pounds since I
started. Now some of this is due to me watching my food intake but
most of it I attribute to the effects of Byetta on my appetite and how
Byetta impacts your body. Most impressive to me has been the drop in
my Blood glucose daily averages from 240 to 132 yesterday.

Next week I’m going to start incorporating exercise into my daily
routine. I’ve had no side effects except being slightly light headed
at times shortly after my injection. I certainly hope I can keep these
trends working downward! Again…thanks to all that responded to my
questions and provided the great tips found in this forum!!

Sweet Treats (was Question)

Saturday, November 4th, 2006

I don’t know if any of the rest of you have tried this but my
nutritionist said that for an occasional treat, to try to Carb
Smart ice cream bars by Bryer’s. They’re like an ice cream
popcicle and have been dipped in chocolate. Quite good and only 5
carbs per serving. The reason she likes these over other low-carb
ice creams is the portion control. I’ve also found that the sugar
free toffee squares by Russell Stover are pretty darned good and
neither have an impact on my BG levels (just don’t eat too many
because of the sugar alcohols).

What would happen if you took Byetta after you start eating?

Thursday, November 2nd, 2006

I’ve been taking Byetta for about a year now. Sometimes when my
schedule is different I forget to take it until after I’ve started
eating. What are the problems or complications if you take it once
you’ve started eating? Is it just increased nausea? Any BG issues? If
it doesn’t bother my stomach would it still help my BG?

Thanks for any info.

Probiotics

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

By the way, I had posted about a week ago asking if anyone had tried
probiotics. I got a few responses, thanks! I started taking them on
Monday and have been able to do very low carb (what I seem to require
for weight loss) and NOT have any of the diarrhea symptoms I was
previously having. It has made a big difference! Just thought I’d
share. This worked for me, and probiotics are pretty safe, but it is
probably a good idea to check with your doctor.
