I know that they don't mention to use alcohol wipes, but they are cheap
(100) for about $1.30 at Wal-Mart and it makes me feel better about

Brian, some people wipe with alcohol before injecting, but I don't. I
wash my hands first, though, and have never had a problem.

I think that you can use a swab on your finger if you let it dry. But the
diabetic educator said not to because it will dry your fingers. I just was my
hands.

When you use alcohol swab on finger for bg test you get an inaaurate reading
because the alcohol dilutes the blood sample. I wash my hands and dry them now.
OK for injections.

I wipe down the tip of my Byetta pen before applying the pen needle and then
use another swab on the injection site. When I first was diagnosed, I also
used alcohol swabs prior to a BG test but found that it was hard to get a
drop of blood as it would mix with the alcohol and disperse on my skin so I
stopped using them for that purpose.

> Does anyone wipe their injection site with alcohol before injecting
> Byetta?

Soap and water is what the Byetta website recommends. If you use an alcohol
wipe you will have a sting when you inject. However, alcohol wipes are good
when you don't have soap and water.
