good news and a few questions

I saw my Doc today. I have lost 15 pounds since I started the Spit
around Christmas time. That is great news. Also my triglycerides
have gone down from almost 2000 to just over 600. We are still
working on that. She wants me to try fish oil. Anyone tried that?
Have any brands they recommend? She is also sending me for a couple

Have any brands they recommend? She is also sending me for a couple
of tests because she thinks I have gastroparesis (stomach not emptying
fast enough) which is causing much of the nausea. It can be treated
with Zelnorm. Just what I want, ANOTHER pill. Anyone familiar with
this? I never heard of it before. (Gastroparesis, not Zelnorm. I
have seen the commercials, with the people with writing on their
    stomachs.)

My glucose levels have been better, but really low late at night, then
I snack because I am so low I feel sick, and then I am high in the
morning. She lowered my evening dose of glyburide, so I won’t get so
low at night. This guessing at med combinations is so confusing!

And for now I am staying on the 5 Byetta pen. I was so afraid she
would raise me to the 10. I can barely deal with the nausea on the 5.
But then, it might not be the Byetta that is making me sick. It
    might be ME.

    Melissa,

Just a thought, but, if your doctor thinks that you have gastroparesis wouldn’t
the Byetta be contraindicated? After all, that’s one of the reasons Byetta
works, it slows down the emptying of your stomach.

Melissa, my daugher has hypercholesteremia. Her numbers came down over 50%
using a combination of things - one of which is a flax seed oil capsule with
breakfast and a fish oil capsule with dinner. We buy the big bottles at
Sam’s. One of their fish oils say "no fish aftertaste" - and I highly
recommend that. Both she and I have reflux and that is the only kind at a
reasonable price that does not have the aftertaste. Congrats on all your
    improvements.

Of course fish oil is one of those items where unfortunately "you get what you
    pay for".

You must make sure that the product is regularly tested (using AOAC
international protocols) for freshness, potency and purity by an independent,
FDA-registered laboratory and has been determined to be fresh, fully potent and
free of detectable levels of mercury, cadmium, lead, PCB’s and 28 other
contaminants. Some fish oil may come from sharks, sardines, cod and other fish,
maybe even swordfish and mackarel that the FDA warns about being high in
mercury. It may be processed like a bulk commodity and it may or may not be kept
    refrigerated.
The best kind of fish oil is pharmaceutical grade fish oil that comes from high
quality fish and is processed in a pharmaceutical grade facility, then purified
and kept refrigerated. Low grade fish oils may be slightly rancid and oxidized
from sitting in non-refrigerated trucks and warehouses.

Be careful what you put into your body. Make sure you get the full benefits of
fish oil, without the potential negatives.

Melissa, make sure the doctor realizes that part of the way Byetta works
is by slowing the emptying of the stomach. It is supposed to do that.
