So…how long…
How long before you start to see better BS readings once you start the
Byetta?
No nausea at all so far…3 whole doses and counting!!! But I can
already tell I am losing my appetite. Barely finished a salad today for
lunch.

Thanks for the info on how long it takes. I was shocked this morning
when my BS was still 180. I thought the Byetta would drop it to 100
overnight!! Guess I am being impatient, huh?. LOL
I did my second workout this week at Curves today and boy am I
tired! Someone on another board said, "Curves is for fat old
ladies." Well, those are "my" people and I fit right in. GIGGLE
Actually, the ladies I’ve met so far are a lot like me…middle aged
and fighting the "creeping" pounds and stiffness. No hard bodies at
Curves, but we sure have fun and the workout is plenty for my rusty
old muscles.

Don’t push yourself too much the first few weeks. Our owner recommends one
round the first day, skip a day, two rounds the second, then skip a day,
then three rounds from that point on. Some people do not skip a day in
between but I do because my muscles really needed that 48-hour rest time.
On the other days I ride my bike if I am able to. After you have been going
a few months, your body might could take a daily work out but I would
suggest that you put more emphasis on the aerobics (in between boards) than
the machines on those days - meaning you give it all you got on the boards
and ‘just enough’ on the machines. On the other days you would do the
opposite. But, everyone is different and you will find your groove. What
is the best thing is finding what works for you and sticking to it.

Hello Ozark Sampler and Nita, Well, what Nita says about skipping a day
between work-outs, except the aerobics, is quite important.
The trainer at the marine gym that I use explained it this way…..
To build muscle, you need to break down ,stress muscle. That’s what we
are doing when you use the weight machines or free weights.
It’s called strength training or anaerobic exercise.
You must have a day in between the work-out so that the body can
repair(which builds more muscle). Some people might even need 2 days
between to build the muscle.
People who don’t do this can be in a constant state of muscle
breakdown…not good.
Aerobics…walking, cycling, etc can be done each day because you are
getting the metabolism going, increasing the capacity of the lungs and
heart etc.
Now, apparently as we get older we lose muscle every year. This is bad
because muscle burns fat the best.
So by building our muscle we reverse this process which makes us
stronger, and keeps us from gaining weight.
Hey, our Marines are in to serious body building and when they see an
overweight ole gal like me in their gym they try to help me out.
OzarkSampler , I loved your "these are my people" remark. Gave me a
great laugh!
Where in the Ozarks are you from? My husband was born in the "Queen
City" of the Ozarks, Springfield,MO.
