Observation-funny
When I took diabetic education the endocrinologist said that someday there would
be a pill that cost $5. each and that we would gladly pay it to avoid having to
give ourselves insulin shots. Well now 4 years later I take a medication that
if I did not have insurance would cost $8.27 a day AND I STILL HAVE TO GIVE

Congratulations, Pam! I have lost over 15 pounds and have to tell you
that just that little bit of weight loss has been enough to yield
results. My blood pressure has dropped and I can move around much
easier and breathing is not as difficult! Can’t wait to see what will
happen after I shed another 20 pounds!

Hello Pam, Nita and List, I’ve lost 26 lbs, since the last week in
October. I had been 80 lbs. overweight so still have a way to go.
To me, it’s miraculous, thrilling. Before Byetta I couldn’t lose so much
as a pound no matter what. I went to the gym daily and this didn’t help
lose weight but if I stopped going I would gain.
In addition to Type 2 Diabetes I have Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis.When I was
diagnosed I also went into menopause…all my hormones just quit
working at the same time.
Now, my BG, BP are better. My joints ache much less. I feel so hopeful.

That is great news Marge,
I cannot imagine all my hormones giving out at one time. I am working to get a
workout done at home. I am not ready to join the gym again. I miss it but not
enough to put my baby in child care there. They are good but he is only 1. I
enjoy some of the DVDs I have bought.

Thanks Pam….
Another thing I am doing that has made this fun is to come up with
inovative meal selections and ways to use my small Oriental dishes.
I cut the tops off of cherry tomatoes, scoop the inside out and stuff
them with small amounts of tuna salad…Three tomatoes fit in one of
my Oriental sauce dishes.
I make a fruit salad using an apple and an orange and maybe add a bit
of Splenda. I only have a couple of serving spoonfuls along with a
meal. It is yummy.
For a festive meal while watching a movie try a few baby carrots,
some raw celery, radishes, orange and apple slices…maybe a thin
slice of cheese
Keep up the good work!

Hello Pam and Joan,
!00 lbs off BEFORE Byetta. That’s amazing Pam. The fact that you are
centered on this battle while caring for your baby makes it all the more
inspirational.
Joan, congrats on your weight loss ! I love your innovative ways with
presenting food, especially the stuffed tomatoes.
It sure sounds a lot better then eating tuna salad out of a spoon
instead of on bread when I’ve used up my carb allowance!
It’s so encouraging to hear all the stories and struggles that others
are overcoming.
The battle to feel better, control BG and to get to a weight that one
can be comfortable in their skin( and easier on one’s joints) is
difficult and support from listers in the same boat really helps me.

You are very welcome, Marge. It seems to me that making this fun
makes it a lot easier. I know it really was in the beginning…
Something else I wanted to add is that feelings follow actions and
that once we begin to act, we feel more eager to do more to stay
healthy

Just an idea. I love the tuna in the tomatoes. But tomatoes have carbs another
way to do it is to put the tuna in lettuce and wrap it up. I like that too. I
love a nice salad with tuna on it too. I like the idea of making it more fun.
I need to pay more attention to what my food looks like.
