Byetta storage was:Calling Amylin
For now I have decided just to leave my Byetta in the fridge. That way I don’t
have to remember where I put it and it is out of reach of my baby. The first
pen I stored in the fridge in the white plastic thing out of the box. But then
I read to keep it out of light. Now I look at it and think that it is out of
light if you put the lid on it. How do you store yours? In the box or
something or out?
Pam
The other day I called Amylin because of a foriegn substance in my Byetta,
The person on the other end of the line asked whether I reused needles. (I
don’t.)
When they sent me the package to send the vial back to them, it included an
information sheet that still says to keep byetta refrigerated even after
opening. (The sheet was copyright April 2005.) I didn’t call back for
clarification.
Just thought I’d pass this info on for no real reason. ![]()

I used to keep in the box, but laziness took over. I have a cooler bag for
insulin, and I just keep it in that. When I need to take the Byetta with me, I
just put the ice pack in the bag. I already have the pen needles in it. When
the bag is in the fridge, it naturally hangs closed, so it is out of the light.
I can’t help but be reminded of the old joke. Is the light on in the
refrigerator when the door is closed? Depending on how often you open the door,
I doubt it emits enough light to be an issue. I would also wonder/doubt if it
emits the right kind of light to be an issue.
