Need carbs for Byetta?
"I’m following a low carb diet for a change sans Byetta and I think I’ve
lost maybe 4 pounds this week. I just don’t want to take the chance of
Byetta making me sick so I can’t take care of my darling little
grandbabies. But if my A1C doesn’t come down also, I will consider giving
it a try."
Glad to hear you are taking the lowering carb to match available insulin
method of glucose control. Now add the byetta to give it and you the very
best chance of being around for your babies, with eyes and legs and kidnies
to make sure they and you have as much complication free time as possible.

For the great majority of people byetta prompts insulin release when blood
glucose reaches the 90 or so level, regardless if the glucose comes from
food or if it is based on a high fasting number between meals. If one eats
few carbs or starts at a low bg level that level might not be reached and
it has no glucose lowering effect.
However in that case glucose control is good and eating carbs to force
insulin release has no positive outcome, better to conserve the insulin for
times it is required. Even then byetta has multiple other beneficial
effects for a diabetic and using it aside from bg control makes sense.
Only your meter can tell you this by post meal testing.
