Reporting in
Hi everyone,
Been a while since I’ve written a progress report so here goes.
Started Byetta Jan. 2006. Had some stomach upset, but not too bad. Found some
Ginger tablets at Wally World and that seemed to take care of the worst of it.
My diet hardly changed from the one my dietican had me on…. although I am
usually eating at little less at dinner time that I use to. I know this will
upset some of you here, but I had/have been eating 85 to 100 carbohydrate grams
in three meals a day for over 5 years now, since starting Humalog. That hasn’t
changed, but everything else has. Byetta has been a miracle drug for me.
My A1c has been 6 and below since the third month on Byetta when I went in for
my first check up since starting. The last one was 5.5. I’ve also lost over
40 pounds while eating the same as before, when I gained and gained and gained
and went from 80 units of Lantus to 40.
Was afraid the Byetta had stopped working in Nov when I started fighting the
hunger again and things that hadn’t appealed to me since starting were looking
good again…and the weight loss stopped. Blood glucose readings remained very
good though. In Jan. 2007,I read on here that you could take the Byetta at noon
and at dinner as long as you waited 6 hours in between. Started doing that
about 2 weeks ago and it’s like it jump started the process again. Have had to
decrease my insluin some more due to lows and the weight is coming off too. Also
had to find my ginger pills again though.
Don’t know what makes the lizard spit work, but sure am thankful some one
thought to try it to see if it would help diabetics.
