Vomiting vs. Nausea

I know most everyone has had nausea while being on byetta but how
many have actually vomited if you overeat?

At first I thought I had the bug that was going around until the
other night I forgot my spit at home and couldn’t get it and I
didn’t get sick that night.

It only happens with the 2nd dose of the day, never the first.

So is it just me being a pig or what?

Thanks
Carrie

    Hi Carrie,

I have had a major problem with vomiting. When I first started the 5,
it was maybe every couple of days. I was on the 5 for two months when
they moved me up to the 10. Then I threw up everything including water.
I couldn’t even keep my meds down. I did this for 9 days, living on
little sips of gatorade before the doctor said enough and put me back
on the 5. But going back to the 5 isn’t like the 5 was in the
beginning. I now have severe nausea in the morning and often vomit. I’m
hoping that I will adjust. Before I had gotten to the point where I
rarely had the nausea. Two other people I teach with use Byetta and
neither have had the problem. One idea I had was that I have no gall
bladder, but the doctor said he didn’t think that mattered. I eat very
little so it is not from pigging out. I eat four crackers and a V8 for
lunch! I’m sticking with it for now because my friend has had such

success, but it’s been really hard living like this. Hope it eases up
    for you soon.

In the class I took to learn how to use Byetta one thing that was
stressed is that you will get very sick to your stomach if you overeat
while taking Byetta. The nurse said that it is like the medication a
person can take to keep from drining. That medication makes them very
sick when they drink too much. She says that there is something about
Byetta that makes on ill if they overeat.

I was told that if I do not overeat but cannot keep anything on my
stomach; not even liquids, I am to stop taking it immediately and go
to the emergency room at the base. Fortunantly, I have not had a
    problem.

I know I am just starting on the medication but am doing fine. And I
am testing my blood often in the beginning. I don’t know about most
doctors but I am going to be monitored closely for the first month. I

will go in again in a week just to be checked and will have a
follow-up class in a month. My doctor calls this a partnership.

Shari: Have you tried adjusting the time you start eating after you take
your shots. I always start my meal 15 minutes after my shot. If I start
before that I don’t get the best effect to not over eat - and if I start
much later than that I get very nauseas and sometimes sick on my stomach. I
think it differs with each person but you might try experimenting a little
bit to see if that helps.
