Three Week Progress Report

I have been on Byetta for 23 days. From Day 4 to day 21 I was also on
Glucovance. At my follow-up appointment on Wednesday my doctor was very
pleased. My morning BS has been ranging from 80-94 and one hour after meals
has been ranging from 88-110. The one-hour after meals was immediate with
the start of the Byetta. The morning has been a gradual - but consistent -
decline. The diarrhea side effects with the Glucovance has been so awful
that she allowed me to go off of it and only take Byetta. She thinks,
especially since I will go to the 10 pen next week, and am compliant with my
meals, that Byetta will be enough for me. In those three weeks I lost 4 1/2
lbs.

I do not look at Byetta has a miracle or ‘the answer’. I look at as a TOOL
to improve my health. I do not expect Byetta to do the work for me -
but enable me to control what I eat instead of having what I eat control
me. I am totally into low glycemic eating. I eat absolutely no white flour,

no white potatoes, no pasta (except Dreamfield), no sugar. I do have
homemade treats that I make with Splenda (and oat flour), canned pie filling
with Splenda, etc - but I only eat them after I finish my dinner. I usually
have a Jello SF pudding from the dairy case after lunch.

I exercise 30 minutes, three days a week and never two days in a row. I
drink six bottles of water a day, hot tea if I’m in the mood, Diet Coke (the
kind with Splenda) with all three meals. I eat a small apple and an ounce
of light cheese in the afternoon of the days I exercise. And, since I don’t
get home to eat dinner until 6:30, I drink a FUZE Slenderize on my drive
home as a treat and ’sustainer’. I take my Byetta injection the moment I
walk in the door and eat 15 minutes later. I take lots of vitamins and
supplements. I sleep 5 hours on worknights and 8 hours on the weekends.

*I looked at it at Sam’s Club last week. The reason I did not get it was
because it had 8g of sugar in it. I would rather get my sugar/carbs in
something besides water. It probably would not hurt to try it and check
your BS and see how it affects you. I find that plain water or those
sweetened with Splenda keep me feeling full all morning - that is why I
    drink a lot of water.
