Byetta Scheduling
I am wanting to try something and would like an opinion. Right now I am
taking 5mg Byetta at 5:00 AM and eating my breakfast on my way into work
between 5:15 and 5:30. I work 10 hour+ days with a very long commute. I
leave work at about 5PM and do not arrive home until between 6 and 7PM.
Then the Byetta and wait 15-20 minutes to eat. The good point is this does
keep my Byetta fairly balanced at 12 hours apart. However, I do have to
deal with hunger at lunch I am being disciplined and eating a small healthy
meal and do not snack, but it is more difficult than the other two meals.
This routine forces me to eat much earlier than I would like to - I would
rather eat at my desk around 7 AM. My Solo low glycemic bar will hold me
5-6 hours with or without Byetta.
I have been thinking about not taking the Byetta in the morning and eating
my breakfast at 7AM…… then taking the Byetta at 11:30 and eating at noon
- then my second Byetta as I have been doing between 6 and 7PM before
dinner.
Has anybody tried this? Results? (I move up to the 10 pen next week)

i haven’t but it sounds like it may be a pain since you will now have to
take the byetta with you as well as store it. wouldn’t be bad once they
officially say it can stay out of the fridge while being used like an
insulin vial or pen. just my opinion…

Nita:
On weekdays I don’t move my Byetta to lunch time.
However, on weekends I have "brunch" mid-morning and
dinner. Works for me. I’ve also heard that some docs
say to use Byetta before your two biggest meals. I
think the only timing issue is to make sure the doses
are at least 6 hours apart.

because they way i work I have a schedule with byetta that is sort of off the
beaten path. I work 2nd shift from 4pm until midnight. My endo told me I can
take Byetta with my lunch and then again with dinner. I take it around 11:30-
1pm (within those hours) and have my lunch and then again at work around 7pm
-9pm and have my dinner. i am only on the 5 pen because the 10 was too much for
me to handle. My numbers have came down considerable!

Nita,
I take my byetta with Lunch and it works fine. I don’t eat much breakfast,
so I need it more with Lunch then I do with breakfast. I think the
literature says as long as it is 6 hours apart, which yours would be. In
fact, I think it would work better for you that way. Especially if you have
a lite breakfast anyway.

Thanks for your advice. (and all the others). I will plan to try it on a
weekend first.
