Testosterone and Diabetes

Friday, January 20th, 2006

Since about September (I started Byetta in October), I’ve been
functioning notably
worse than "normal"–pronounced fatigue, sleeping sometimes 16+
hours, mental
fuzziness, etc.

I recently had my doctor do blood tests to get at the likely cause,
and he found
that that problem wasn’t B-12, or thyroid, or other things we might
have sus-
pected. My testosterone level is below the normal range. He
thinks this could
account for my symptoms, and that with testosterone shots every
three weeks
(it may take 3-4 months to see results) I may very well see a

Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] eating and levels

Mickey,

Maybe the byetta lingers in your body longer? If you are getting these
kind of results taking it this way, what would your results be taking
it the correct way? I only had nausea when I first started byetta. I
get queasy now and then, but not sure if it is byetta related. If it
seems to work 3 or 4 hours after you take it and have gotten good
results maybe if you should try to take it and then eat just before 1
hour expires. Maybe you will have even better results. I thought
someone said that the byetta stays working 2 or 3 hours after you have
eaten? Maybe your body absorbs it slower? Some people have taken
byetta after the meal and still got good results.

BTW, I did not get nausea, but had the rash, hives itch at the
injection site. I actually worked through it and now only once in a

Hello and some questions

Sunday, January 15th, 2006

I am thinking about starting byetta and have been wondering a few things. I am
a 911 dispatcher who works nights 3 nights a week and 2nds the other doing 10
hour shifts. My eating schedule is wild, one reason why I have trouble
controlling my sugar. Do any of you know it I will be able to work byetta into
my schedule and it still work properly. On my days off I eat regularly but my
work days I might eat breakfast at 1 pm and dinner is around 2 am….

eating and levels

ok, check all of this out. I was useing my byetta pen all wrong, (so I was
told). I would take a shot early in the am, go back to bed and eat after usually
3 hours. then I would do the same with the other shot. Take it around 3 or 4 pm
and eat around 6 or 7. I had very little nausea this way and my blood sugars
were staying down. Since I was told that I was doing it wrong and that I needed
to eat immediately after I took my shot, I tryed that and couldn’t keep anything
down, was dehydrated and could only drink 3 to 4 drinks of water at a time. I
ask you then, it I was doing it all wrong, why did my A1c levels drop to an
awesome 5.3(which I am so happy about.) I went off the byetta now for almost 3
weeks. After I got this news, I started back on it last night and my bs had been
out of this world off of it.

Sinus Problems

Saturday, January 14th, 2006

As I mentioned before, the only problem I’ve had with Byetta is sinus
headaches.

I now have a full blown sinus infection, has anyone else had problems
and do you think Byetta could have caused this?

Marcia,

It is different for everyone. Some it goes away quickly some not.
Some have nausea some not.
I used pepcid for my nausea and that is all I needed.
Good luck
