Is it normal?

Hello.
If you do not mind I would like to share my experience with Byetta. I would
appreciate your input on how common and normal these effects.
I am quite nauseous to a point of vomiting every night, after this the relief
comes and no nausea.
I feel very weak. Even taking a shower is a chore. I am just drugging my feet
and gladly stay in bed. No energy at all, and of course constant hunger,
dizziness and light headed.
All this when I am taking 5ug. I am afraid even think of what to expect at
10ug.
I would welcome your suggestions and thoughts.
Thank you.
Ellen.

    Ellen:

Have you tested your bs when your feeling hungry,
dizzy and light headed to make sure it’s not
hypoglycemia? I’ve had nausea a lot to the point of
vomiting but I always feel much better afterwards.
Are you taking other meds with Byetta? If so maybe
    they need to be adjusted.

Ellen, you’re having an awful time. I vomited once on the first or second day
and I think that was because tuna just doesn’t seem to agree with the lizard.
Now I only have nausea occasionally. I’ve been on for four months. I couldn’t
tolerate the ten. I never vomited on it, but the nausea was too much. My
numbers are pretty good on the five. Check your bg when you are feeling so
terrible. You might be too low and having a hypoglycemic episode. I have very
little energy, but not as bad as you describe. Check your numbers when you’re
feeling really bad. If it isn’t really low for you, I’d see the doctor. How
are your numbers? If the five is getting you normal numbers, you might not have
to go to the ten. Keep us posted on how you are doing. Kathy, MN

    Hello.
Thanks to everyone who responded to my post.
No, my bg is not low. Apparently I am one of those "rare" people who cannot
take Byetta. I think I will stop.
These vomiting took tall on me. I feel so lousy, that I do not want to be
    alive.
Here is the list of my other medications:
    Norvasc
    Fortamet (Metformine)
    Effexor XR
    Isosobrite
    KCL CR.

I had such a hope for Byetta, but I think it does not mean to be.

    Hi,

I do not think it is the byetta per se that is making you feel lousy. If
you are throwing up that much, you are probably dehydrated. Plus, your
Electrolytes are probably messed up. Why don’t you try a couple of days off
the byetta, and drinks lots of fluid, eat some good potassium foods, then
try again? Also, I find the closer I eat after I take my shot the less
nausea I have. You might also want to get the dr. to prescribe some
phenergan for the nausea. I hope this helps, I know you must be miserable.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
