So happy for Byetta

Monday, August 22nd, 2005

Hi My name is Sylett and I ahv eben usig Byetta for 6 days now and I
couldnt be happier. I have pre-diabetes and IR and am on Metfromin
1000 mg at bedtime as well as 5 mg byetta . So far( I dont want to
jinx myself so fingers crossed) I’ve had no side effects from the
monster spit and my numbers are Fan-freaking -tastic! I was running
FBg’s of 118 just a week ago and since I have been on BYetta I ahve
been btwn 89-95 FBG and PP numbers in the 80’s consistantly. I’ve lost
weight, about 4# which I think was water from the Actos I
discontinued, but the most suprising thing for me is that I am now
throwing ketones for the first time since I began low carbiing 4
years ago. I have never been able to drop weight even with vigerous
exercise and diet modification. I began to lo carb and tho I didnt
drop any weight I felt better and it helped my depression. But when I
tested with ketostix I never turned them anything at all even when
eating 10g carb a day for a week. But now with Byetta and a Bernstein

Fwd: new to group

This came to the moderator so I forwarded it to the list.

Hello!

A little about me: I’m married have two grown children-a daughter who
teaches high school German and Spanish and a son who is in the process of
applying to law school. I am in the mortgage business, my husband is in the
high end audio and home theater business and we hope one day soon to sell
our house and almost everything in it and buy a boat and sail off into the
sunset.

Am looking forward to learning from everyone in this group. I don’t write a
whole lot-mostly I just lurk and learn. Hope that’s okay.

Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] Re: Lipitor Question & My Info

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005

Aylne,

My cardio doctor wants my total under 100. He told me that diabetics
should have a lower number than the recommended number for non
diabetics. Also, I do not know really anything about the relationship
of the numbers and their totals. I was told by someone that it is
really not as simple as one is 96 and one 98. Having one as high as 98
might not be as good as it sounds. I think this is where we definitely
have to trust the ones that keep us healthy.

Lipitor Question & My Info

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005

Hi, I may be mistaken but I thought I read a post not too long ago
about someone that went off Lipitor. When I read that post I took it
that they went off of it because of weight gain. Can anyone tell me
if they have had any problems with Lipitor? My endo automatically put
me on it when I was diagnosed with Type 2 about four months ago. I
also thought I read somewhere that doctors usually put people on
cholesterol lowering drugs when they are diagnosed with diabetes.
From what I remember from my blood tests I didn’t have high
cholesterol. I don’t like taking it because I have to take so much
other stuff. I hope to be able to also go off Toprol after I lose
more weight. I just turned 44 on 9/9/06 and I’m only 5ft 2in and a
whopping 188lbs, but that’s down from about 210 I was when diagnosed.
I had never been but a few pounds overweight until about 9 years ago
my weight started going up and up. My endo figures I was at least pre-
diabetic since then. I was diagnosed with hypothyroid about 10 years

Pen expiration

Monday, August 15th, 2005

I am fairly new to Byetta. I am wondering if any of you have gone past
the 30 day expiration date on the opened pen. The expiration date on
the pen itself says 12/2007, but I understand that the pen once
started would expire in 30 days. There have been a few times when I
have just been to sick and nauseated to attempt to take an evening
shot, and thus have ended up with a few more days left in my pen. Has
anyone had a similar situation.

I was checking on my drug benefit with Medco today, and realize that I
am getting close to the $2500 drug cap, and would not have enough to
cover another 90 day refill that would be around mid December. So, if
I have a few extra days in my existing pen, I need to use them.
