Drug combination may ease nerve pain

Sep 25 (HealthCentersOnline) - A combination of two drugs can offer
significant relief from hard-to-treat diabetic nerve pain, researchers
report.

A common complication of diabetes is nerve damage (diabetic neuropathy),
which often causes leg pain and other pain. Pain relievers rarely
eliminate the symptoms. Antidepressants, anticonvulsants and opioids are
sometimes prescribed in severe cases. Scientists have been trying to
discover which drugs or combinations of drugs may be most effective.
