<description>Thanks Karen....unfortunately I do eat immediately after injecting...I have it
waiting...I dont know...so upsetting, but hopefully soon it will get better.
alice

How long did it take you to get over the nausea...I am about to finish my second
month...one month on 5 mg and one on 10 mg and my nausea is horrible....

My name is Patty and this is my 4th Byetta attempt. I have bought and
used only a few doses of each pen and then gave in and quit because of
the nausea.I got up this morning and my BS level was 313. Never mind
that I am a binge eater at night and this is usually how high it
is.....I just can't stand it any more. I took the shot and here I am.
I am glad you are all here. I read your posts all the time and it's
because of you that I am attempting it again. I will let you know how
it goes...Thanks...Patty

<description>Patty. I hope you'll stick with it. I quit the 10 mg pen because of the
nausea, but the 5 is working fine for me. If and when I need to, I will go back
to the 10. What helped me with the nausea and what I've learned here from our
group is to use the sea bands (an acupressure type help for sea sickness
available at drug stores), anything with ginger, Maalox ultra, Tums. Hope this
helps and I hope you'll be able to stick with it. Kathy

<description>Good luck Patty! I know the nausea can be bothersome, even downright miserable.
Hang in there! Stock up on ginger ale and saltines. It worked wonders for me.
The first week on Byetta I felt queasy all the time and snacking on the crackers
really helped. I've never been pregnant but I felt like I was having what
sounded like horrible morning sickness. I have taken and given up on Metformin
many times because it made me so sick so I looked at Byetta as a drug of last
resort. However when the nausea was so bad I was tempted to just give up on it.
Believe me when I tell you, the nausea will pass if you can just hang on. I'm
on my 5th week of Byetta 5 and finally don't feel a whole lot of nausea at all.

One thing I will suggest, that you've no doubt read here, is that you'll need to
examine what you're eating while on Byetta. You'll find some foods or food
combinations will trigger the nausea more than others. I have all but given up
on dairy because it's one of the worst things. I've also found that Tums will
help settle my stomach a little, especially after eating. And remember portion
&lt;!--more--&gt;
control -- keep your meals small. Your stomach just won't want it.

I've been down the 300 plus fasting road and felt complete despair over those
numbers. I know it's not healthy and I'm glad to have that behind me. Byetta
alone didn't work for me, at least not at 5mg. I'm also taking 10 mg of
glipizide with breakfast and dinner. During the day my blood sugars run around
100-130 and my fasting numbers are now down to 14-150. On Byetta alone I went
from 300+ to 200-210 most of the time and always a 215 or so morning fasting.
My doctor thought maybe 10 mg of Byetta might make more of a difference but I
suggested the Glipizide as I'd experimented with that a few days with good
results.

My numbers are closer to normal than they've been in a very long time. This is
due mainly to the drugs but also to my newer way of eating. I still enjoy a
candy bar or a cookie, sometimes more than one, but overall I'm on a fairly low
carb diet and not eating very much overall. Now if the weight would just start
falling off!! Knee problems have kept me from doing any kind of excercise but I
expect to be back walking before long so maybe I&#34;ll see something then.

Hang in there and stick with it!! Good luck!

Garland

		<description>Hugs Patty~

Persevere and press forward, you can do it! Good luck this time around. Try
and figure out if it's certain foods making your nausea worse and try and stick
with what doesn't.
