past three months. my occasional nausea subsided after the first few
weeks, and i am pleased to report that i have dropped 34 pounds since
starting byetta. will the weight loss continue or plateau at some

Bob,

I would carry my byetta in a thermos with ice, wrap the byetta in
bubble wrap so it does not get wet. Just before I go through security
empty out the ice and show the byetta and prescription to security.
After passing through security go to a food vendor and ask for ice,
you have to empty it again before boarding but if you are delayed the
byetta will still be kept cold. When you get on board ask for some ice
and put it in the thermos. That is what I would do. Maybe some one
will respond with a better solution.

Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] Nausea duration???

Sunday, August 28th, 2005

Brian,

There is no way for anyone to know how you will react to the byetta. I
got a little nausea after dinner. Nothing that a pepcid couldn’t help.
There are some that was sick for a long time. I noticed also, if you
over eat, you seemed to get the nausea more. Also, there are tips on
the home page that the list users have posted suggestions for the side
effects of byetta.

Good luck.

Carbonated drinks and Byetta don’t mix

Saturday, August 27th, 2005

I am wondering if there are others of you that have experienced
problems with drinking carbonated drinks since taking Byetta. Byetta
has definitely curtailed my "diet soda" consumption. So, there again,
another good outcome for me. Between Byetta and no longer
drinking "diet colas", I have no sweet cravings whatsoever. All my
life I have craved sugar to the point that I could eat it with a
spoon, if no other sweet was available. No wonder I developed Type 2
Diabetes, as well having as having a diabetic parent.

Nausea duration???

Friday, August 26th, 2005

I’m about to start the stuff, and am wondering–for planning purposes–how
long the nausea (when it occurs) tends to last. Does it go away after the
stomach has emptied (admittedly slower with Byetta), or does it endure until
the next meal??

Thanks.

Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] Re: injection site rash

Friday, August 26th, 2005

Alyne,

The same thing happened to me. My doctor prescribed a cream for me to
put on the rash. It did help. It took a long time for the bumps and
redness to go away, but it stopped the itching right away. I worked
my way through it, as I did not want to come off the byetta. Also,
after awhile It would just happen once in a while or else I would just
get a little red mark where I injected. I went down to the 5 pen and
really have had no problem what so ever.

I know someone told me that it could be the mannitol. You could be
allergic to it too. When this happened, I called my doctor, I do not
believe he believed me, When I got to his office and he saw where the
rashes were he knew it was from byetta. He said it I was 1 in 200. I
said why can’t I have those odds and win the lottery….

Drug combination may ease nerve pain

Thursday, August 25th, 2005

Sep 25 (HealthCentersOnline) - A combination of two drugs can offer
significant relief from hard-to-treat diabetic nerve pain, researchers
report.

A common complication of diabetes is nerve damage (diabetic neuropathy),
which often causes leg pain and other pain. Pain relievers rarely
eliminate the symptoms. Antidepressants, anticonvulsants and opioids are
sometimes prescribed in severe cases. Scientists have been trying to
discover which drugs or combinations of drugs may be most effective.

Finally gave in

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2005

My name is Patty and this is my 4th Byetta attempt. I have bought and
used only a few doses of each pen and then gave in and quit because of
the nausea.I got up this morning and my BS level was 313. Never mind
that I am a binge eater at night and this is usually how high it
is…..I just can’t stand it any more. I took the shot and here I am.
I am glad you are all here. I read your posts all the time and it’s
because of you that I am attempting it again. I will let you know how
it goes…Thanks…Patty
