? regarding nausea

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005

I was wondering…I have been on the 10 mg for 2.5 weeks now and I am still
nauseated. To the point that it is a buring in my stomach and just feel like I
need to throw up. Is this how it affects everyone? I have also found that milk
in the am is bad, as is salsa, spaghetti sauce and cream based products. I am
slowly learning. Will this ever pass?

Weird time table…

Thursday, July 14th, 2005

So, I am on Elavil (amitriptyline) for neuropathy in my feet. The original
purpose of this medication was for depression caused by insomnia, so one of the
effects of this pill is sleepiness. It seems that if I take the pill around 6
or 7 pm, I’m ready for bed within an hour or so, but if I take it later, it
takes forever to take effect and I then have a harder time getting up in the
morning. Because I work till 9 during the week, I don’t have a chance to take
the pill till 9:30 or 10:00. So, has anyone else experienced something like
this with any medication that causes drowsiness? I’m extremely frustrated with
it right now… going on almost 4 hours since I took the pill and am WIDE
awake….

bg testing and Byetta timing questions

Wednesday, July 13th, 2005

My Endo told me I only needed to test twice a day once in the morning—
I have been testing after I’ve gotten up and ready for work etc, but
still before I have eaten anything…Is that OK? Or should I be
testing the minute I wake up before I do all the other stuff? Does it
really matter? And the second time I am to test is one hour after a
larger meal which usually would be dinner, sometimes lunch.

I am just curious if any one has ever tried taking their evening Byetta
shot before bed? Wonder if taking it later would help with morning
numbers. It just seems kind of a waste when I am nauseated to take the
Byetta with saltines for dinner. But not knowing exactly how the
Byetta is working or reacting if that would even be plausible?

Hello!

I have been getting the nausea, but only in the evening. It says to
eat an hour after you take the med, but I’ve read here that if you
wait too long to eat the effects aren’t as good. The first day I
started the meds my bs levels were beautiful. Then the next day
they were back to normal. I would love any advice y’all can give,
but I’ll also keep on reading all the posts…except the ones they
say I may end up loving Heavy Metal Music!

Thanks!

Has anyone tried Extend bars for DP morning highs?

Tuesday, July 12th, 2005

I’ve been having trouble getting my morning fasting BG down. Read
somewhere that eating an Extend bar at bedtime helps. I just bought
some today. Anyone else had any experience with this?

Finally testing and the results

Sunday, July 10th, 2005

Well, I finally got a meter from my Endo and got my RX filled for the
test strips and lancets.

My morning readings have been 159, 132, 141, 139 & 147. After meal
readings 96, 104, 108, 118 & 92.

I want to get those morning numbers down. Any suggestions? I’ve been
on Byetta 10mg for a little over 3 weeks. I have lost 10 lbs. Been
very nauseated, even had the dry heaves when I got to work this morning
- Just lovely. lol I find it’s very hard to stay low carb when I can’t
eat and it’s all I can do to sip on some ginger-ale, 7-up etc. and
nibbble on some soda crackers. Those things are all carbs. But they do
help me feel better.

I know the Metformin is supposed to work with the Byetta but I don’t eat

Frozen Byetta Pen

Saturday, July 9th, 2005

Well I did something very stupid while I wasn’t paying attention. I
put my Byetta pen in the freezer door instead of the fridge door and
didn’t realize it until the next day.

I know the directions say not to freeze, but does anyone know what
happens to the stuff after it has been frozen? I still have two weeks
before I can get a refill. I’m just wondering if I’ll get sick if I
continue to take it?
