Vegan diet may reverse diabetes symptoms

Sunday, July 31st, 2005

I took a look at the full research article, details matter which are often
glossed over in news reports. The researchers conclude much of the results
were due to the greater fiber content of the vegan diet not the absence per
sey of animal proteines. There is a great deal of research relating to the
benefits of fiber for a diabetic I will not go into but to say that it does
have considerable benefit.

In the study at hand the greater fiber meant fewer calories consumed and
greater weight loss. Weight loss alone can cause the a1c and other
benefits resulting from the diet. Similar benefit comes also from a higher
fiber diet and in this case combined with weight loss.

Saturated fats do seem to be related to greater insulin resistance
independant of animal or not source,ex. hydrogenated veggie oils so common.
Avoiding high saturated animal protein sources and substituting poly and

Bubbles in my Byetta

Saturday, July 30th, 2005

I just started my 2nd pen of Byetta (so it’s been sitting in the fridge
for a month) But I see on one side of it, it’s full of bubbles.
Is this normal? OK, maybe I am being paranoid from all the "bad" RX
talk, but have any of you had this happen?

Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] quality control issues?/ long but please

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005

I have been reading everyone’s posts about the quality control of this
spit. You all have me wondering if this could be a lot of users
problems. If this is the cause of everyone’s problems it is kind of
sad. For once there is a huge step forward in treating diabetes and it
is spoiled by the handling of the drug. I am not sure what the answer
is to this problem. If we were to send it back to amylin will they be
able to tell how long it has been exposed to room or hot temperatures
or only when the pen is frozen?

I have an appointment with a new endo on Friday. My primary is at
wits end and feels she can not control my bg the way an endo would. I
know I need the type of medication that glucophage is. I can not
tolerate it at all. When I was taking the glucophage with the byetta
this time around I was getting good numbers in the morning.

todays news online. interesting!

it could be as simple…

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005

this. you start the pen (5 mcg) and things go great for a month or 2 (maybe
more). the nausea and any other side effects subside. the numbers are still
good though. then all of a sudden, the appetite is back, the numbers don’t
hold the same, you have to add insulin if you use it. haven’t there been a
few on this list that have seen that?

again, i am NOT blaming byetta! i think it’s a problem with the
transportation issues. for those that have been on spit for a long time, did
you ever see this scenario?

quality control issues?

Monday, July 25th, 2005

was wondering if anyone thinks they may have had problems with byetta pens
over the summer months.

i may have as the new pens i have are working fabulously but over the summer
i am not so sure. i plan to contact the makers and bring this to their
attention. i had a pen replaced by them in may but question if others have
had pens they thought suddenly weren’t working.

i don’t think this is the fault of byetta but probably the pharmacies. more
specifically, how the pharms get the meds. i’m guessing that the walgreen’s
i get my script from gets the byetta on the same truck as they get tampax,
kleenex, pills etc. who knows how long or at what temp the meds are kept
while being transported!

i love the lizard spit and it is working now but i want to know what is

Hi everyone… I have some questions

Thursday, July 21st, 2005

My hubby is a Byetta user. I have a few questions.

First of all, have to say we LOVE this stuff. His A1C dropped from
9 something to 7.2 and we are thrilled. Could be lower, but this is
OK.

We have seen ZERO weight loss. Does weight loss with this happen to
most people?

Another question…. he seems to have the "pre-dawn" early rise in
his BG. I think I remember someone once saying a snack before
dinner like a bran muffin or something helps. Any suggestions?

His Endo suggested maybe adding insulin in the evenings, but I am
confused, as he is making insulin, just not using it. Why inject
