Day 3 and lots of nausea
Hi All~
I started taking my Byetta 10mg on Tuesday night. I only experienced
nausea during the evening the last couple nights but was nausiated most
the day today. Agghhhh So does it get worse before it gets better?
I’m trying not to complain or think about it to much though.
Funny thing the other night we went out for dinner to our favorite
Chinese resturant…I could hardly eat any of my dinner because I was
so full so fast!

Hi…
Well, I’ve been on the 10 pen since August 3, and I’m still experiencing
nausea every day. Not enough to actually "sick up" but bad enough. I’m
under a lot of stress right now, but I’m trying to "hold steady". My son
and his future bride have moved in with us…bringing 2 dogs, a hamster, a
lizard and a hedge hog. One of their dogs is a pit bull. We have 2 black
labs and a great dane. They (my son and his gf) do help me a lot around the
house, so I do appreciate that. Meanwhile, my husband has pneumonia, and I
am coming down with bronchitis. I am trying to fight it though. One of my
questions involves injection sites….I have been bruising where I inject in
my tummy. Not just a tiny bruise at the needle hole, but about the size of
a half dollar. And they are a very dark blue. They are not sore or
anything, but it’s disconcerting to see these huge bruises on you. Also, I
went to the dermatologist and he had to biopsy 2 places and I am waiting to
hear back from that. I guess I’m just wanting someone to say…It’ll get
better…lol….It will…..Won’t it?????

I often get those bruises when I inject Byetta in my belly. Sometimes I
look like a dalmation with big dark blue bruises speckled around my front side.
I especially get them if I accidentally hit blood vessels but get many even
if I don’t. They go away after awhile I can’t see where they cause any harm.
A nurse told me I could hold a finger on he injection spot for a half a
minute after the shot to stop the bleeding under the skin, which is what causes
the bruises.
I’ve gone months with no side effects from Byetta or Metformin, then this
past week I had lots of bloating, gas, burping and some nausea too. I had to
buy some gas meds at the dollar store and I went to bed early one night to
avoid the nausea. Luckily, I am better now.

As a matter of fact Andrew I re-read them last night! lol
I will try more of the suggestions. I did have some ginger-ale
last night and that did help a bit.
Thanks ~ Tami

Demetria-Beth.
I also had that problem with bruising when injecting on my stomach so I switched
to my arm. The results are the same as far as Byetta’s effectiveness and no
bruising.

of course it will get better!
as to the bruises Ive noticed unless I’m injecting in a stretch mark.. it
bruises because it gets moved somehow even imperceptibly.
ill cross my fingers for you on the biopsies.
take care and have a great weekend.

Andrew,
as to the lizard liking me so much, i have had to pull
out the ginger root several times this week. i have
had a very bad byetta week. i have thrown up at least
3 times and come very cose several other times. i did
devide my levemir and my sugar is actually running
lower. i even had a low the other day which is unknown
for me. after a large glass (12 oz) of orange juice i
was 89

we have an iguana, and i let her free roam during the
day. she goes and lays across DH’s pillow. at night i
have to put her back in her cage. i always get
scratched at least once across my forearm, so i have
about 6 or 7 long scratches across my arm at any given
time. that is my right arm. i use my left forearm to
do my blood sugar testing, so i have a row of little
bruises all down that arm. last night i told DH that
somebody is either gonna put me in the psych hospital
for slashing or in drug rehab for what looks like
track marks up my other arm. lol

yea i know 89 is normal. but for someone who was 600
for 15 years it doesn’t feel good. and that 89 was
AFTER 12 oz Orange juice. I had thought most of the
nausea was behind me. i had 6 solid months of throwing
up twice a day every day.
oh well. long live the lizard!!
