normal BG levels

Friday, April 29th, 2005

Just to make a point, this is from About.com

Quote on:
What is a Normal Blood Glucose Level?

A. Blood glucose levels change due to the interaction among what we eat, our
physical activity and insulin. Normal values of blood glucose levels (for a
person without diabetes) are between 70 and 110 mg/dL before a meal, or below
120 mg/dL 2 hours after eating a meal. - Nina Nazor (end quote)

While it is said that diabetics have higher BG after a meal, I don’t buy that we
have to have 140 mg/dl or more after eating because it is well known that such
high levels of BG are a good indication there has already been damage done and
is an indication of continuing problems.

Has anyone here heard from Jessica?

She called us last Sunday and was going to stop for a visit a few hours later.
We never heard from her again.

Does anyone know how to contact her in real time? She has our phone number, but
we never got hers and, frankly, Dan and I are both worried about her well-being.

Regards,
Marsha

(for those who object to this, just don’t participate. I think it’s a great idea
as we share so much on this list about our health, our weight, even financial
matters as some don’t have insurance, and this is a way to get to know the
backgrounds of our Byetta friends. Thanks, Sharon.)

Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] Informal poll

Monday, April 25th, 2005

The only thing that would bother me is that if they withheld
information about the effects of the byetta. I think having a group
like this is the best way to know what byetta is doing to others. Most
everyone has had a same symptom, whether it be nausea, sleepy, I even
got some itchy blotches at the injection site. I am not alone. We
are in reality the long term study. The best part is that no one is
paying a company to do the study and it can not be a fixed study. We
all go to our own doctors, get result, we tell each other problems
associated with byetta. I do not think we can have a better study than
that one.

Another Newbie!

Friday, April 22nd, 2005

Hi All~

I have enjoyed reading your posts the last few days…My name is Tami, I am 40
yrs. old. I am not sure when I became an official Type 2. I was diagnosed in
1986 with PCOS(Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), I was put on Metformin in 1998 when
research revealed PCOS women were insulin resistant. I never had to test blood
sugars at all. And at that point I was only on high blood pressure med. In
1999 I had a complete hysterectomy & I went to an Endo for the first time. At
that time it seems my A1C’s were not great and so I was put on higher doses of
Met and on cholesterol med too. My weight is basically uncontrolled, I need to
lose 110 lbs., but would be happy to be able to lose any and keep it off. I’m
not great with low carb-low fat but I am trying to make better choices! I had
not been to my Endo for 5 years and went back to him last week. He told me
about Byetta and wants me to try it. I have mailed in all my prescriptions and
am waiting to receive them. It seems
