My surprise

Friday, February 18th, 2005

I came home last Wednesday to find a FedEx box by my door, addressed to
my husband. Thinking he had ordered something for his computer, I put it
on his desk, unopened. Later, after he came home from work and we had
dinner, he gave me the box and said, "Here, this is for you." Imagine my
surprise to find a full-size replica of a gila monster. <g> This is a
cute reminder of how byetta changed my life. <g> It can sit around my
neck, but it looks nice sitting on top of my printer, looking at me.

Their customer service has noticed an increase in their gila monster
sales, and now they know why. My dh is so sweet.

Questions after 9 months on Byetta

Sunday, February 13th, 2005

Hi,
I’ve been on Byetta since Oct. 2005. I’ve lost 22 lbs
and probably gained it back because I don’t do very
well with my diet. I’m not writing about that
however. My question is, has any one on the group
used Byetta as long as I have and have you had any
stomach problems after this amount of time? I’ve been
having flu like stomach aches with no other symptoms
after taking Byetta. I haven’t said anything to my
endo because I don’t want to stop the Byetta because
it’s so great at keeping my appetite under control.

I know Byetta is a new drug and all the "bugs" haven’t
been worked out yet, so having stomach problems
concerns me a bit. I just hope that it’s temporary, I

Baby Refrigerator Test Findings

Friday, February 11th, 2005

I found someone who owned a baby refrigerator (it runs either on
electricity or from a car cigartette lighter).

We set up the following test –> We took one of those little hanging
fridge thermometers and put it in an Amlyn Byetta case which had been
cooled in a regular fridge — the temp was 42 degrees. We put two cans
of frozen soda in the fridge with the case. We left the fridge
plugged-in in a garage (ambient temp about 80 degrees in the middle of
the day, lower in the morning when we started).

At 10 hours, the thermometer was at 45 degrees. The soda was cool but
not frozen anymore.

Since a car would have a/c on, and would be at 80 or below for ambient
temp, I’m pretty sure this is going to work for a 6 hour trip.

Byetta cooling pouch

Thursday, February 10th, 2005

Hi all, check out the link below for an item to keep the pens cool.
It works with water only. I have used the Frio products for cooling
insulin with great results. Have a look.

Baby Refrigerators

Wednesday, February 9th, 2005

I am taking a long car trip in a few weeks and thought about buying
one of those little refrigerators (sized to hold a six pack) that plug
into the cigarette lighter thing in a car. It seems easier than a
thermos for a car trip. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Carb Levels and Drugs

Saturday, February 5th, 2005

There is such a variety of people here in terms of how long they have
had diabetes, which drugs they take, how much weight they have to
lose, what their A1c levels are and it makes me wonder –

While understanding that everyone is different, and that what works
for one person doesn’t work for another, what if a database was put up
for this group where people could put their A1c levels, their morning
blood sugar ranges, whether they were low, medium or high carb eaters,
veg or non-vegetarian, and which drugs they took. Perhaps there are
enough people here to discern a pattern. I’m not sure of the exact way
to structure the table, but I think the information might be interesting.

Or maybe even asking a poll question related to whether eating
carbs/not eating carbs/or X grams of carbs affects how someone’s
levels go on the various drugs they take.
