Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] Weight loss plateu - more

Hi Joe,

You have mentioned about cutting calories, but you did not mention if
you drink water. They say you need to drink water. I mention that
because I do not like to drink water unless it is ICE cold. Weight
watchers say you should drink 8 glasses of water a day. I think a
couple can be counted if they were crystal light, etc. some kind of
liquid. But the old weight watchers says you should drink 8 glasses of
water.

Interesting commentary, Dale. My acupuncturist says cold water (iced water) is
very bad for the system. I drink 90% of my liquids at or near room temperature
including my tea. My dear husband used to drink all liquids either screaming
hot or sub-polar. When he started drinking his water at room temperature
(nuking it briefly if necessary) he actually felt better. Go figure. The power
    of suggestion?

When not drinking a lot of water I drink a great deal of green tea and seem to
have a very good weight loss effect then and it has the same effect on BG - the
bottom line being that well hydrated people have more blood volume than
    dehydrated people do.

There is a good deal of controversy about how much water per se one needs to
drink, if at all. If I keep well hydrated with green tea and virtually no water
I do just as well and perhaps a bit better than if I drink 64 plus ounces of

water a day. I seesaw on the tea and water. If I don’t drink enough, however,
that is an issue for me as my blood glucose rises strictly from the dehydration
    factor.

The old weight watchers trick about water is trying to trick your body into
thinking the fullness in the tummy is food (from the water) but that is a bogus
sort of thinking as the body knows the difference between hydration and
nutrition. However, often people think they are hungry when, in fact, they need
hydration. So, if one is hungry, drink some water to see if you are really
thirsty. Then, if you are still hungry after a few minutes you probably really
are hungry…unless you have eaten just a few mintues before, in which case I
reach for a hoodia capsule because it is my insulin resistance speaking in a
    loud voice.

    So it goes…

    Hi Shauna,

I tend to sort of drink on a schedule or I almost
won’t drink - I’ve been like that all my life. If I
drink about 64 ounces of liquids a day then I’m good
to go. If I stop drinking then I have problems -
    over-concentrated urine, bladder infections, etc.

Over-hydration can be dangerous. Just like anything,
you can get way too much liquid in you and disturb the
electrolyte imbalance. Maybe 64 ounces would be too
much for others. It seems to be about where I need to
be in order to be in good health. Probably one of
    those YMMV things.

My kidneys are fine, so that’s not an issue with me.
