did I do the right thing?

This morning I was not feeling terribly well (from non-diabetes related
causes) and took my bs, began breakfast, and bit into a piece of cheese
and swallowed a tiny bit when I suddenly remembered - Byetta!

I know one is not supposed to do the shot after eating, but it was so
fast, and I had barely swallowed, that I quickly (within 2 minutes)
gave myself a shot. However, I’ve had an upset stomach ever since and
am wondering if it is related. I wonder whether I should have skipped
the morning shot and taken one at lunch or just waited until dinner?

Any thoughts?

    Hi Kristi,

I don’t have a problem taking the shot before, during or after eating. I like
to take it well before eating, but taking it after I have started eating (oops!)
or even after (oops again!) is not a problem.

An upset stomach is not uncommon early on. I take prevacid and that helps my
stomach, although I also have GERD so I took prevacid before I started byetta.

I sometimes find that if my stomach is upset that eating a little of something
else helps - at other times eating a little of something else is not the answer,
it is a part of a new problem (overfull). As with so much with the byetta
lifestyle, YMMV. I find yogurt smoothies (small ones) often are the ticket if
my stomach is having a byetta/metformin moment. I try not to take them too
    close together if I can.

Kristi, I’ve taken snippet of food, even more than a few bites, then
injected the byetta. Nothing happened and the byetta worked as prescribed.

It sounds as if you were not feeling well from the get-go. So I doubt it
was caused by your nibbling. <s>

    Hugs,
