Anyone have any ideas about drug costs?
Hi…
The other day when I went to the Diabetes Education Class, there was a lady
there who was taking over 100 units of Lantus a day and 100 units of some
other kind of insulin too. She was type 2. She had several other health
issues besides her diabetes. Well, she had been on TN Care which is
Tennessee’s Medicaid, but it’s been so messed up this last year she was
dropped even though she can’t work and her husband is on disability. Her
insulin alone is $1000.00 a month. She has to get help from her kids to buy
it and groceries. What I am wondering, does anyone know of any kind of
program that would help her, or a pharmacy that offers lower prices? I am
sooo concerned about her. This is not the sniffles, this is her life they
are putting in danger. I don’t understand the insurance system sometimes.
If anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate them!

tell her to go to www.needymeds.com. i get my insulin
from them at no cost. she can look her meds up by
name, print out (or in some cases call for) the
applications. she then takes them , with her part
filled out and an adressed stamped envelope to her
doctors office to fill out his stuff. they send it in
and hopefully within a couple of weeks they will send
a 3 month supply to her doctor’s office. most of them
can be re-newed every 3 -6 months
most insulin is covered, i have gotten my lantus thru
them, and i just took in an applicaton for my levemir.
i have also gotten lantus. even byetta has a program.
that is how i get mine.
good luck to her
