Hi Newbie here!
Hi…
I just joined the group. I am started byetta tomorrow and I am
excited about it. I have read a lot of stuff about and I’m a little
nervous about the nausea thing, but i’m hoping that it can help me
feel better than i have. I haven’t been too vigilant as far as
testing my bs, but i suppose that will have to change when i start the
byetta to make sure it is working. I have been trying to low carb,
but just found out my insurance will pay for me to go to weight
watchers, so i think i will do that, and just try to watch my carb
choices. Have i said anything really stupid yet? I am looking
forward to learning from everyone here and i hope that soon i will
have something to offer to y’all as well…
Cheers!

Dear Demetria-Beth,
You haven’t said anything stupid but if you want to hear some strange stuff
just stick around. Welcome to this group, it is full of good and not so good
advice, you have to decide which is which. Actually, it is filled with
experience and that is what makes the difference. Everyone’s experience is
somewhat
different and therein lies the value. And some have nausea, some don’t. Some use

Hi, Demetria-Beth, and welcome to the group.
Hey, there are no really stupid things said here, though sometimes our
Gila-Dad, Andrew, asks us to take off-topic posts (like rubberstamping)
off list. LOL
I, too, was concerned about the nausea before I started, and nothing
happened. Go figure. <g>
Let us know how it goes.

Welcome, Demetria-Beth!
Weight Watchers has a version of their plan that is kind of like South
Beach, not exactly "low" carb, but it emphasizes low-glycemic index carbs.
(I forget what they call it, I’m not a member, but it’s the one where you
don’t count points for the main portion of your diet, you eat whatever you
want off a select group of foods then you use points to "fill in" the
rest.) But the "regular" counting points plan can be low carb if you want,
too, just choose from low carb foods. That’s great that your insurance
might cover it, mine wouldn’t even cover a physician-recommended medical
weight loss clinic visit. Cheapskates.
I had only minimal nausea for a couple of days on the Byetta, no big deal.
You’ll likely do fine, too.

Hi…
Well, I went to the Doc this morning and true to her word she put me on
byetta. When I got to the drugstore, however, they said I need to have a
prior authorization from my insurance. <sigh> So I don’t start it for
another day or two. I’m kinda let down because I wanted to get started.
Thanks for the encouragement from y’all….I will let you know when I get
started.

Hi Karen!
It’s nice to meet another "neighbor"! Yes, unfortunately I have TN Care.
Which has become so confusing. I am hoping to hear something today, so
we’ll see. I get my meds at Walgreens down at Malfunction Junction….lol.
I am glad that you have had a good experience with the byetta. Gives me
something to hope for.

Andrew, I love your sense of humor. I’m both a scrapper and stamper. So
I guess you know where I stand! LOL
