Byetta in Britain
Hello all, hello to some of the names i recognise from other DM
Groups. To get things rolling since adding avandia to my 2000 mg
metformin my weight has been slowly but inevitably rising. This
depresses me more than i really like to mention. In a previous life i
was a successful sportsman but having been DM for more than 15 years,
as well as tempus fugit, i am not able to perform to the high levels
that i kid myself i should.
I am pretty certain that losing 30 / 40 pounds i would really be able
to reinvigore my self in both sport and more generally life.
From what i understand, on this side of the atlantic, byetta is one of
those holy grail meds that not only treats the underlying symptom of
diabetes but also helps you shed weight in bucket loads.
So here’s my question…. is this medication available yet in the UK,
and of course also NICE approved so that the NHS pays for it?
cheeeers… Simon

Hey Simon, good to see you here*G*
I dont know if Byetta has managed to swim across the big pond yet. I
know it hasnt been approved in Canada yet. Perhaps a search of
byetta.com will tell you or ask the techs. If they dont have online
email you might have to do an international phone call. Of course
someone here may know the answer already.
Just to let you know, some lose weight and some dont. Some have nausea
and some dont, just like any other diabetes regime, YMMV*G*
