Symlin or Byetta
Hello Everyone,
My endo just recently switched me from Byetta to Symlin hoping it
would better my control. I thought the Byetta was working a little to
lower my numbers, but I mostly was taking it because it was keeping me
from gaining weight and being hungry all time. Now that I have
switched to the Symlin I can’t see that it is doing anything. I am
starving and my numbers aren’t that great. Just wondering if there is
any Symlin users or past Symlin users that are now on Byetta? What
were your results? Kat

>>>>>Kat, I know that my Endo has switched all his Type 1 patients to
Byetta. He feels that Byetta works better than Symlin. Sounds like
this is true in your case. I was scheduled to go on Symlin but
eventually he decided Byetta would be better for me. It is always a
crap shoot, you play your best cards first and then see how they lay
out. Are you taking any other meds with the Symlin injection? Insulin?
Metforin? etc? When I get appetite seizures I use Hoodia, Apedix as
well as other home remedies. It is tough to stay on target when you
are hungry all the time. Byetta usually does that for me. That is what
helps with the weight loss. Others will have good words of advice for
you too. John Dodson
Hello John,
I am type 2 that was taking Symlin <today back to Byetta>, Novolog,
Levemir, and Glucophage. I have taken the Symlin for 3 1/2 days and
it has done nothing for me. I keep having to increase my Novolog to
get the same results. It’s happening fast and very scary. My new
endo is wanting me to go on the pump. I don’t see how a pump will
help much. If the insulin isn’t working now, how will pumping it make
it better? I don’t mind the multiple injections, I just wish it would
work. She put the scare into me and I am counting every carb that
goes into my mouth and exercising religiously and I still had to
increase the Novolog again this week. She wants me to have a CAT scan
to look for an underlying cause that is causing this extreme insulin
resistance. Kat

despite tons of meds, both oral and insulin, byetta is
the first thing in 15 years to get my sugar below 600.
in the first 3 months my HgA1c was down by half. from
15.6 to 9.4 . i am running almost normal sugars now.
i threw up twice a day every day for 6 months but i
would have fought anywone who tried to take it away
from me.i am barely on other meds now. only 1
glucovance a day and 10u levemir
