I am not on any other medicines so I don’t know how Byetta changed my numbers as
opposed to some other medicine. As soon as I was diagnosed in May, my internal
medicine doctor put me right on Byetta. He had been watching my numbers and my
A1C had gone from 5.6 to 7.6 in two years, the last jump after I had been on
Prednisone for a pinched nerve. I was having numbers in the 200-350 range while
on steroids and that prompted the A1C test and the diagnosis of diabetes.
As far as side effects, I have had NO nausea or vomiting. The main side effect
that I experience, which people rarely mention on this list, is FATIGUE. I
normally am fairly high energy and have always been a late night person but
since Byetta, I am tired a lot and often am asleep at 10 pm. I keep hoping that
side effect will go away but so far, it’s not. I have lost 20 lbs and my 14 day
avg on my meter is 101 and since those are VERY GOOD things, I don’t complain
much about the fatigue.
Hi, I am Linda and a type II diabetic. I am not on Byetta but want to talk to
my Dr about it soon. I have heard from an Aunt of mine that is keeps her sugar
at a resonable level. She ahs also lost weight from it. Now that would be a
keeper if it made me lose weight also.. I am looking forward to reading your
messages and learning about this medicine. Thanks for having me in here. Linda
Hi Andrew,
Glad to see you are feeling better! and you are back to the list. We
missed you.
I guess we just all learned from your experience. Too much
antidepressent is just as bad as no antidepressent. I am on Lexapro
and things seem to be good, but I will be alert to watch for too much
of the drug.
I think you are confused a little???……You are not a
rabbit…….you are the lizardman…………lol

Hi.
When my doctor prescribed the byetta for me she didn’t say what size needles
to get. What size should I use?

Hi…
The other day when I went to the Diabetes Education Class, there was a lady
there who was taking over 100 units of Lantus a day and 100 units of some
other kind of insulin too. She was type 2. She had several other health
issues besides her diabetes. Well, she had been on TN Care which is
Tennessee’s Medicaid, but it’s been so messed up this last year she was
dropped even though she can’t work and her husband is on disability. Her
insulin alone is $1000.00 a month. She has to get help from her kids to buy
it and groceries. What I am wondering, does anyone know of any kind of
program that would help her, or a pharmacy that offers lower prices? I am
sooo concerned about her. This is not the sniffles, this is her life they
are putting in danger. I don’t understand the insurance system sometimes.
If anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate them!
sounded yummy

Could your thyroid have an effect on your weight loss
efforts? Even if your doctor says it’s normal…
You bet it could. Underactive, sub-clinical
hypothyroidism is one of the most missed diagnoses in
medicine, and is responsible for an awful lot of
unhappiness. It also affects eight times as many women
as men. The symptoms of a low thyroid are often vague
and generalized — they can include weight gain (or
great difficulty losing weight), depression, fatigue,
bloating and often a malaise and lack of energy, not
to mention things like cold hands. Because a lot of
these symptoms overlap with those of so many other

My son isiah’s levels where running high when i checked them ! the first day we
did it two hours after he ate supper the doc said he did not want it over 110
–well it was 169
Then the 2nd day we did it when he got up in the morning fasting before
breakfast it was 149 then we checked it again that night two hours after he ate
again and it was 171 —but when they checked it at the hospital and this was
after lunch time it was only 101 and they did what they call a and i may not
spell this right they did a blood test called hemagloben and said that you can
go back as far as 3 months to see what levels of some kind read and it was
showing no signs of anything concering diebeties for him ….So he did ask me
how long i have had my machine and i have only had it 3 months so i am not sure
that maybe my machine is bad because when i went to the doc yesterday since my
levels where a little high she put me on a nother med as well to get my levels
back down …….So i am not sure i am just keeping an eye on him and watching

I have been reading the Bernstein books and believe that the ideas are
true for me, but I have not been able to find anything he has written
about Byetta. He seems to think delayed stomach emptying is not good,
but this is one of the things Byetta does. Or is the delay he refers to
related only to a disease and only bad because inconsistent?
Has anyone seen anything written by Bernstein about the spit?
