Metformin is famous for gastrointestinal problems.
That would be my bet. I take fortamet as the only
viable extended release alternative for me. Even it
does case gastrointestinal upset, just not as much as
glucophage XR.
I used to get some muscle cramping in a band around my
belly from the spit, but that went away after awhile.
I do get bad hiccups from the stuff. I out-hiccup my
2 month old grandson.
Good luck to ya, Rebecca.
At the moment I find that spit is not preventing me
Got to go back to the very
from eating anymore.

Marsha,
This is the first time I have seen ANYONE mention the hiccups! I have that too!
I was blaming diabetes but it’s the Byetta? Go figure, lol!

You should go to the doctor. You could be having female problems. That sounds
like the symptoms I was having, when I was having ovarian cysts. And since you
said you have missed your period. I would have it checked out. I don’t know if
your pain comes and goes. But mine did. Everytime I thought about making an
appointment the pain would go away. But you should make an appointment to make
sure. I also had diahrrea, etc from the cysts.
Just to be safe…you should go. It could just be intestinal irritation also,
but you still should have it checked out.

Marsha - just discovered a foolproof hiccup cure (well, works most
every time). You have to have help - have one person hold your ears
closed and drink water while holding your breathe. Believe it or not,
it actually works most of the time; might need to do it twice.

Hi Elaine,
All I need to do is hold my breath for a little while. Nothing else needed.
There are sure a lot of cures out there. Blowing in bags, swallowing spoonfuls
of sugar, getting startled, etc. I don’t have chutspa to ask someone on the T to
hold my ears, so it is a good thing I can handle my hiccups on my own. :^D

I get the hiccups, too, Mary. I’ve gone from getting them, pre spit, about 2 or
3 times a year to maybe 2-3 or more times per week! I only seem to get no more
than ten max during a bout, but once and awhile they’ll last 20-30 minutes.
Weird.

I get hiccups a few times a week now, too. And heartburn. Rarely for
either before Byetta.
