Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] Re: Nightmares - (Wow! Now I’m Afraid To

Tuesday, October 19th, 2004

I believe that the side effects of byetta are no different than the
side effects of all the drugs that are on the market.
Have you ever listened to a commercial on TV that promotes a pill?

There are side effects in every medicine. Byetta is no different.
Would you not take actos? I get nightmares from it. In fact I took it
for a while and then got the nightmares. Will never take avandia or
actos again.

I am having allergic reactions to byetta. I am taking claritan and a
creme to stay on it. If I am allergic and it has not caused me any
problems except not losing weight. Not lowering my bg. BUT, I am
taking lantus, humalog, and metformin extended. I did not gain any
weight.

Ok. This is the third time I am sending an email. I hope one comes
through. If there is more than one. I apologize

Sarah,

Do you take actos? I had night tremors when I took actos.

I would go so deep in my nightmare that my husband could not wake me
and I would be yelling and screaming.
When I would wake I would be shaking.

Sarah,

Do you take Actos? When I took Actos, I got night tremors.

Gerald, it does not have to be the byetta. I took a pill and got night
mares, but I think they were called night tremors, my husband could not
wake me and I would yell out in my sleep scared to death.

low carb and bone loss

Friday, October 15th, 2004

While many people seek to manage their weight through
popular low-carb diets like Atkins, some observers
voice concerns over potential side effects, primarily
osteoporosis, or "brittle bones."

New research from the University of South Florida may
put such worries to rest. The results show that a
strict, low-carbohydrate diet had no adverse effect on
bone loss for people participating in the study.
Furthermore, they lost 14 pounds.

"The diet did not appear to compromise bone integrity
or lead to bone loss," said Dr. John D. Carter, a
rheumatology expert at the university’s medical school
and one of the study’s authors. "I was surprised by

i was 172 this morning!!!!

Friday, October 15th, 2004

was 260 when i took the lantus at bedtime. still eating very low carb.

i upped the lantus to 75 last night (doctor called me and suggested i take
that dose) and that is just 5 units less than before i started on the 5 pen.
i guess that is a good thing but still weird that on the 10 pen i have to be
back to where i was before spit.

oh and the test i am having is not a pancreatic function. he said he’d tell
me during my appointment today what tests he is running but they are all
blood tests. that’s a relief cause i don’t do well swallowing tubes!
probably won’t know anything till monday or so as he has a lab but sends out
for results.

didn’t someone say that it took them a few months to get enough from the
byetta to be able to lower meds? i can accept that with no problems but

anyone else sent a pen back…

Wednesday, October 13th, 2004

and may i ask why?

byetta wants the 2nd 10 pen back now too. the guy who called me to tell me
that was pretty nice. i asked him if there were known issues and he said
that had been replacing quite a few pens. he wasn’t sure why but his
supervisor told him to call me since this pen was not working either. they
know i am having the pancreatic function test tomorrow so i was surprised
they didn’t want me to wait for those results.

update on 10 pen

Tuesday, October 12th, 2004

called the local diabetes educator and had a talk with her. she is not
personally seeing anyone on insulin using byetta but know it’s being written
off label.

i told her what all has been going on and she had some suggestions. one is
to have the doctor due a test to see if i have lost pancreatic function. 2
is to go back on the 5 pen and see if by some fluke by body likes that
better. 3 is that byetta did what it could and has now quit (since it’s off
label for insulin users she said that could be an issue and byetta may even
know that). 4 is to keep upping the lantus till i get it to a basal that
works again.

also said to call byetta again and let them know it’s still not working. we
talked about that prime time report on last week with fake drugs too. mostly
viagra and the like but with the shortage of spit, it could be an issue. who

Hoodia Caution

Monday, October 11th, 2004

I found this and thought it was important

People with diabetes should be particularly cautious. Because hoodia
tricks the brain into thinking that it has enough blood sugar, it’s
possible that a person’s blood sugar could drop dangerously low while
taking hoodia. With the regular hunger mechanism turned off, the normal
warning signs may be suppressed — until it’s too late.
