question for those on lantus
is anyone else splitting their dose in 2 and if so are you doing an even
spilt?
and when do you take it? i was taking the single dose at about 9:30 to 10pm.
dr said to space them 12 hours apart but i know i’ll forget the morning dose
eventually so am thinking maybe changing the times to like 6:30 am and pm.
and when do you take the lantus then? this morning i took both the lantus
and byetta together at 8:30 am. but not sure if that’s a good idea or not.

I just went to my pharmacy today to pick up my refill, and the pharmist informed
me that Byetta is on back order with the manufactor and they have no idea when
it will be available. Did anyone experience this?
I know you are only to use the 5mg pen for 30 days, but I have some doses left
in the pen when I didn’t take it because I was too low, is it safe to use the
remaining doses, since I can’t get my new rx for a while?
Thanks,

Judi,
Egads, no, I have not had a problem with the pens being on backorder. I did
have to wait a few days for the first pen to come in from central supply, but
thankfully I get mine from the mail order pharmacy in 3 month batches so as long
as I keep the flow coming normally I am going to be immune from short term back
orders. I’d be really upset over long-term ones.
I have used a pen past the expiration date and so did my DH and they worked
fine. Good luck!

I always have to order a day or two in advance because the local CVS never
has them - gets them on the truck from Atlanta overnight usually if I can
get the order in early that day. NO problems with filling the Rx. And I use
the pen usually 45 days - I know when it’s about out when I the Pepto starts
lasting longer.

Hmmm, I’m near the end of my pen, having more hunger and a little less control
of BG. Did not happen with pen 1 or 2. Wonder if this is my introduction to
less control at the end of a pen.

yes it is here too. i am in central illinois and use walgreens. they had 1
10 pen and had to order 2 more to fill my script. it was the difference
between a friday and monday. we have 3 walgreens within a few miles and they
all needed to order more.
while at kroger friday, i had to have a script filled for an antibiotic as
well as diflucan. they were out of diflucan and i asked about their byetta
stock. they had at least 5 of each dosage of spit on hand.

ah to only have to shoot 10 lantus
jodi
I don’t split mine…it’s working fine so far. But I only take 10
units of Lantus. I take both my Lantus and Byetta at 7:30 am. Then
Byetta again at 1:30 and 7:30 pm. That’s it! :o) Good luck!

potent. but there were no adverse effects. this last

Thanks to all who responded to my posts, I will give the pen a try and see if it
will last until the Byetta hopefully come in. I am in Western PA and glad I am
not the only one with this problem.

Judi, It has been reported in the press that it is likely that Byetta may be
in short supply this summer because the demand is more than the company
expected or planned for. The CEO of Amylin said in an interview that the
company
would be in good shape by fall. This news did not do the stock price any good.
The company is building a new plant and should have it on line by 2007. The
company has discontinued the free 5mcg samples to Endo’s. John Dodson

Jodi,
On my last 3-month prescription order (10 mcg pen) I was only able to
get one and the other two took a couple of days to get. There was no
explanation (I didn’t ask, either) so I’m not sure what the problem
was. It was picked up by my Mom as a favor and if I had been there I
would have asked (love my pharmacist!).
