i was 172 this morning!!!!
was 260 when i took the lantus at bedtime. still eating very low carb.
i upped the lantus to 75 last night (doctor called me and suggested i take
that dose) and that is just 5 units less than before i started on the 5 pen.
i guess that is a good thing but still weird that on the 10 pen i have to be
back to where i was before spit.
oh and the test i am having is not a pancreatic function. he said he’d tell
me during my appointment today what tests he is running but they are all
blood tests. that’s a relief cause i don’t do well swallowing tubes!
probably won’t know anything till monday or so as he has a lab but sends out
for results.
didn’t someone say that it took them a few months to get enough from the
byetta to be able to lower meds? i can accept that with no problems but
wonder about why i was able to go to 40 units of lantus on the 5 pen.
when i was first dx’d (19 years ago) i remember my doctor at the time saying
something about a "honeymoon period" with insulin. i was dx’d after i fell
and broke my wrist and a finger. 7 months later and still not healed i was
sent to a neurologist as a last resort and he was the one who suggested i
have a glucose tolerance test. i was running over 600 according to the tests
and put on insulin immediately. bones healed right up and once they did i
was able to lower insulin and add orals to my meds. i think that had
something to do with what he meant but don’t remember.
maybe that’s what i had with the spit. maybe my basal dose still needs to be
at 80. maybe he’ll have me try the 5 again.
i haven’t gained any weight back. i’m not disgusted by food anymore though
i’m not really hungry either which would be due to spit working.

yep, it was among many others. was like i was donating blood (or is he
really a witch doctor). the wind up was that he thinks the boil still has
some infection even though it is closed. don’t have to have it drained but
he said if nothing is changed in a few weeks, i have to go see a specialist
who will culture? it and see if the leviquin works on it. he said that could
be the cause of higher bg’s.
he also gave me another 2 weeks of leviquin and a week of diflucan cause we
all know what’s going to happen next.
finally, he wants me to spilt my lantus dose to two times a day. he finally
admitted that lantus is not working to give the 24 hour coverage they claim
it does. he actually said to do 35 tonight and 35 in the morning dropping me
down to 70 total. he thinks the byetta will kick in normally if we can get
my bg’s down lower. i’ll try anything to get results from the spit again
oh and since i have refills for both the 5 mcg and the 10 mcg pens, he said
it was up to me what to get with the voucher from byetta. he says there
still is a chance that it’s the pen and not me but i hope it’s me and will
say a novena to the lizard Saint just in case. anyone know if there is a
patron Saint of lizards? maybe Saint Francis?
