Hello Everyone,
This is such a Great Group.
I really enjoy the imformation and have not yet begun the Byetta, and rally want
to but still am still a little scared.
Please tell me what you all have found for the best injection site, and did it
take long to get used to doing it?
Thanks

i was at a guy’s house today and he told me that erin from byetta told him
to make sure you keep a hand’s distance away from your belly button.
literally put your thumb in the belly button and see how far you need to go
out. was news to me but this guy is so well versed on byetta and diabetes
that i have no reason to doubt him.

Hi, Sandra. Another new face. Welcome!
I was using insulin before byetta, and during the first months of using
the spit. I know, that’s off-label, but that’s what worked for me. So I
didn’t have a problem injecting. While traveling, I’ve injected in the
thigh region as well as in the abdomen.

just put thumb in belly hole and leave hand closed
he showed me on his belly.
lol”
What’s a hands distance? If he meant the whole hand he’s off base. 2"
away from the belly button any direction is just fine.

I personally don’t use that rule and have never had any problems.

some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
and all are different colors….but
they all exist very nicely in the same box.

i have actually thought about doing that. actaully i
am a nurse, so i know where to take a shot… and
oficially it is 2 inches from the belly button. and i
know where mine is supposed to be

Well, since you no longer have one, does it matter? Serious question, BTW…
not trying to be a smart ass. LOL

I also use my belly. If I do it too high up on the abdomen I get red dots.
If I hit a stretch mark I bleed. There are spots at times tht hurt like
hell! I stop and move. I used to sit down and pull a pinch up and do it that
way (thank you whoever had mentioned that!) but am ok doing it without
sitting down. It took awhile.
Be patient.

I wash everything on the gentle cycle.
It’s much more humane.

Well, I’ve been off work and off school (grad school - dual MBA) for a week
and have worked pretty hard around the house and yard, but haven’t done a
minute of real exercise (well, rode my bike to WahMah for a grocery run the
other night) and haven’t beat myself up too much over what’s been going down
my neck. Sigh. Anyways, school starts back today and I’ll be at the office
tomorrow and will weigh.

well, yes and no. if i had just a regular scar down my
belly it wouldn’t matter. but due to complications of
my surgery i have some rather extensive scarring so i
have to avoid those. i find upper abdoman the best for
me. almost midriff
