PICKED UP RX TODAY

I have been on byetta for a couple of months now. I have seen a huge
drop in my grocery bill. I have also been very diligent about eating
right and have started walking in the mornings. My goal was to be able
to walk 5 blocks to the gas station to get my morning paper. I reached
that goal this week.
I am not eating near as much as I used to. I can make a pot of chili
and it lasts a whole week. Byette has been a blessing for me. Susan

    NICE!

It takes time. I am *SO* much happier 77lbs lighter - I can actually take
the summer now without being stuck in the AC under a fan all day. My truck
broke down on the way home yesterday on the side of the highway and I had to
go back this morning, jump it off (alternator is dead) and move it far
enough to unhook my car trailer and hook it behind my car (tow truck still
hasn’t showed). Anyways, I dealt with the heat just fine and got the job
done and if the truck ever makes it home, I’ll work on it a while this
    afternoon. Life is better lighter.

I work with data so I am comfortable with data. When I plan my workouts
ahead of time with my little steno pad and hit the gym with that in hand, I
KNOW what I am there to do, how much and how many of what I am going to do,
who I need to kick off what machine or weight station, and about how long I
am going to be there (generally 45m to an hour depending on how many people
are in there and how distracting the coeds are - University gym and it’s
summer.OMG.). Of course my body just naturally takes to weights so I have an
advantage (so few I actually got in my Gene Soup.mostly Sketti-O’s,
unfortunately). But find something you can do - (swimming?) - and do it
often. Even light weights in front of the TV at night will help.

OK, I have fixed the truck (it left me stranded yesterday afternoon -
alternator quit alternating) and the Mustang (new headlight assembly, worked
on the convertible top motor, door handle - another damn project car) and I
want to tool around town on my bike for a while (got the pipes cut and

reinstalled this week - LOUD - I was downright embarrassed when I cranked it
after putting the pipes back on) and I want to put fenders on my pedal bike
and ride it to CVS this evening.

I gotta tell you, losing weight - lightest I’ve been in probably 20 years -
is having a life-changing effect on me. I *WANT* to get out and do stuff.
And I’m not invisible any more no matter how hard I concentrate. I was
coming out of WalMart the other evening in my workout (wife beater) shirt
and long jean shorts and this down-home pretty girl popped out of an SUV,
flashed me a very white smile, and said hello and I thought she was trying
to sell me something or hand me a religious pamphlet (yeh, I know I just
offended someone, email me directly.). I tripped all over myself and looked
like an idiot (well, more so than usual). I’m REALLY not used to this
attention the average decent-looking human gets. I am used to people hanging
out car windows and yelling at me when I’m out walking - the Fat Guy On A
Little Bike thing has gotten old, but my iPod and earbuds that shove into
the ear canal cancel a lot of that out and I try to ignore the visuals. I
can really understand why some people gain it back and others divorce.

For those to whom ginger helps with your nausea!

    Natural Ginger Ale

1 teaspoon fresh ginger rhizome, thinly sliced (or 1Ž2 teaspoon powdered
    ginger)

    1 teaspoon red raspberry leaves

    3 cups water

    1 cup carbonated water

    1 lemon slice

Bring the herbs and plain water to a boil, then turn the heat down and
simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat, and steep an additional 10 minutes.
Strain out herbs. Add carbonated water and lemon just before serving. Drink

Here is another recipe. From recipesource.com. Mind you it uses honey but I
    bet you could substitute
    Title: Homemade Ginger Ale
    Categories: Beverages
    Yield: 4 servings

    2 T Fresh ginger root
    2 Lemon rinds
    4 T Honey, to taste
    1 c Boiling water
    1 qt Seltzer

From "Nancy Clark’s Sports Nutrition Cookbook," Nancy Clark. Leisure
    Press, 1990, $13.95.

Put the ginger and lemon rinds in a small bowl with the honey.

Pour in 1 cup boiling water (or just enough to cover). Let steep for
    five minutes.

Strain and chill. When ready to serve, add the seltzer water.

Makes 4 servings (10 ounces each).

One serving contains 65 calories and 16 grams of carbohydrates.

    Rebecca,
Thanks so much for the correction in the recipe. I just started the
10 mcg pen and the extra bad nausea has started up again (another
week of hell, I guess) however, this too shall pass…
I’m hoping to have a better time of it this time since I have the
group with all the good ideas to combat the nausea.
    Thanks again!

    Elaine,

Did you try taking your injection right before eating as a way to deal with the
nausea or is that not working? I did that at first, but since I don’t get
nauseated I no longer worry about the inject/eat correlation. Hope the ginger
ale helps! I love ginger, but I am more interested in the candied stuff that I
    can’t have.

Martha - yeah there are two of us. I noticed that right away and
started putting (TN) on the end of my name to distinquish between the

Ahh, so - I must have missed that. I take it Elaine (TN) is "my" Elaine, the
hypnotherapsist? :) The email address looks right.

Ahhh, Lanie! There you are. :) Okay, gotcha.

    Marsha

There are two Elaines. The other Elaine signs Elaine, (TN). I just sign,
Elaine. I am the one who is the Hypnotherapist. Perhaps from now on, I will
sign, Lanie. I am called that by close friends, and I feel the list
members are my close friends. LANIE

  14. Melvin Anh Says:

Ahh, then the other Elaine is the one who has an interest in legal things. I
was wondering why hypnotherapist Elaine was interested in law school. The light
(flash!) is beginning to dawn. (SMILES)

I think I finally have it, by George!

Wow - two super Elaine’s on the same list.

    Cheers!
